Anyone have the Olive Egger Bantams from MyPetChicken?

They don't drop ship, I actually don't know what that term means. I asked them and was told that they rent warehouse and incubator space from Meyers, some of their birds are from the same stock and some aren't, especially their hatching eggs which are from various breeders from around the country.
Drop shipped meaning MPC does not ship them from Meyer and the other hatcheries they have deals with to where MPC is located and then send them on to customers which would be terrible for the poor chicks if they did! But Meyer does the hatching and shipping for them on those things Meyer provides.

They all come from the same place when I order. I think places like Purely Poultry drop ship, but MPC does not. It seems to be a persistent myth about them. Geez, you'd think I worked for them. I've been ordering only from them since 2008 so I practically work there. I remember when it was only a couple of ladies. They were the first to do small chick orders. I believe at that time they probably purchased or contracted chicks from Meyer and took a small profit. Now they say they rent space.

Mine came from Meyer when I ordered from MPC this year, that's all I mean by drop ship. Mine weren't shipped directly from MPC.

Well no actually they did come From MPC if you ordered from MPC, their offices are in Connecticut, I believe most of the phone people work out of their homes, but the chicks come from Meyers address because the rent incubator space, and warehouse space, so the same address, but different businesses.

Meyers doesn't sex bantams where MPC does, so they obviously have people working at the Meyers location that aren't Meyers employees.

A representative used to hang out on BYC, unfortunately I haven't seen them in a while. They used to explain it better than me.

I understand all of that, but it's still technically drop shipping:

Along the lines of this:
"An emerging trend in the drop ship business is private label drop shipping, in which a manufacturer produces a custom item for a retailer and drop ships it."

Maybe we're defining the term in different ways and I'm just not clear on how you're using it?

The point is that Meyer is being contracted by MPC and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I buy trees and plants from a certain vendor but most of them come from Dave Wilson who has great trees and I'm a repeat customer.

I think of drop shipping as the business has no hand in the physical end of the business, they just pass the order on to another company or individual who does the filling of the order. I also think a drop shipper gets merchandise from all over, so I guess they are a drop shipper for the eggs, but not the chicks.

Either way my head is starting to hurt. I just want to see bantam olive eggers. :hmm:hmm:hmm

"Thank you for contacting My Pet Chicken with your questions regarding the Bantam Olive Egger. This is one of our newer breeds and I apologize for any confusion while our representative worked to help answer your questions. We certainly want you to know enough about the chicks that will hatch that you feel you can make a good decision on whether to add these to your flock or not.

Your questions helped us realize that we made a small mistake in our description which we have corrected. We use true bantam sized birds to breed these birds, as opposed to small Large Fowl, not "True bantams". You are correct in that, out of the recognized "True" bantams, there are no blue egg layers, and again, I do apologize for the confusion our missing word caused.

I spoke with our breeder about the traits of this little bird and was told they are friendly with a little handling, fly well as do most bantams, do not tend to be broody, and are average layers of cute, bantam-sized, olive eggs. Due to the fact that these are developed with our own custom blend of very small sized bantams, they tend to be very little and quite adorable. "

Well, that clears things up.

Sorry about your head, I don't mean to make it hurt! I guess if MPC was it's own hatchery or they had their own separate hatchery employees or facility I'd be agreeing with you. It's just a difference of semantics, not worth any pain, apologies for that! I'll bet those bantam olive eggers are cute!

I get what you are saying, I probably don't want to admit that about them, and it's okay, my head is better today. :)
