Anyone here have experience killing ringworm??

i had a guy in my firehouse years back that had ring worm on his head an we joked with him about urine killin ring worm. he used his own urine on his head and it killed the ring worm. needless to say eveyone elso but me caught it. lol we had to burn our furniture and get soome special spray that we used around the fire house for a month and we burned our mattresses to, lol we got new mattresses. it was a military firehouse in ft greely alaska so we did things in extreem fashion, lol

my nephew had a ringworm on his ear.. My brother and sis-in-law took him to the doctor several times because it just wouldn't clear up completely- The doctor had him and pills and creams etc .. but it would always come back- Somebody told them about either green or black walnut --the hull I think- They went to my granny's house and got some and made some kind of concoction.. It cleared it up after just a little while and didn't come back-- I don't know exactly what the mix was or how it was used but I'm sure if you do an internet search for home remedies you could find it. Also when I was young and had an earache My mama would make us pee into a empty pill bottle or something and would then get an eyedropper and put a few drops in.. Worked every time. Wayne

Oh and I forgot --I've heard that there are different strains or kinds of ringworm.. I've heard that a couple of rarer ones are really ,really hard to get rid of..

Thanks guys for all the great advice. I feel like burning everything I own and rebuilding from scratch but that isn't an option since we just got the house not too long ago sooo..I will try some of the great suggestions here. Thanks a bunch

My vet gave me some lotion and shampoo, started with an M...

Anyway... I was to shampoo the kittens and leave it on for 5 min.... can you imagine having a kitten in water that long....

Well, I ended up just using a q-tip and spreading the shampoo on the areas and not washing it off....

I also used bleach.... DH swears by bleach...he soaks his foot fungus in bleach solution to get rid of it...

I also used lotrimin... worked okay but clear nail polish worked on humans best.... The Dr said I could have also used female yeast med on it on humans.... not sure what it would do for animals... probably same as lotrimin....

I also alternated treatments weekly.... plus bought an anti-fungal cleaning agent for all of the areas the animals were in....

I bought the anti-fungal at SAMS in a gallon jug that you mix up... I mix mine strong....

Good luck.

There are a few different strains of ringworm, dermatophytes. There's the one you get on your body that makes the red ring. There's one you can get on your scalp that makes your hair fall out, again in a ring. Athlete's foot and jock itch are both ringworm. The hardest to get rid of is the nail one. You can't get the nail strain on your scalp or the body strain between your toes, etc.

On clothing & bedding wouldn't washing with some vinegar work? I've always heard when trying to kill mold it's the same equivilant as bleach; works in the same way killing the bacteria I know that. Sure it has a smell, but adding bleach to dark clothes can ruin them, while white vinegar will work the same without washing out all the color. (test 1st to be sure tho, dyes may all be different).

Hey...I didn't read through everything so if this has already been posted please ignore. When I was a kid I had ringworm and we put white iodine on it. It went away fairly quickly and didn't leave a mark. Good luck

I hate the name "ringworm" as everyone thinks it's a worm under the skin and it's not.

My DD and myself got a bad case from a stray kitten that we took in. the antifungal creams wouldnt stop it, so I googled it and ended up buying an expensive, 30 some dollar jar of white cream that smelled just like Pine-Sol. I'm not at home or I'd be able to tell you the name, but it finally worked quickly, after spending months fighting it with OTC creams.
