Anyone impatiently waiting for your baby chicks to arrive?!?!

For what its worth, I've never gotten meaties or broilers as packing peanuts. I've gotten them in 2 of my shipments, 1 order came with 15 or so barred Rock cockerels, the other came with 10 or so production Red cockerels.
I doubt they'll vaccinate any of the peanuts since they'll be including them free of charge. I'd imagine you'd have to pay to have them vax'd.
When I placed my order online, right before I checked out they suggested I purchase a heat pack, grow gel or insurance for my order (all of which I declined).

You should just give them a call and see what your options are

I was hoping they would be willing to vaccinate any peanuts since the 10 dollar minimum charge for the vaccine is for the first 67 chicks and I am only ordering 15.
I think I will call them on Monday. Could be I end up canceling the order and doing an order of 15 of the assorted pullets and the 9 I planned on keeping. That may cut down on the peanut issue and let me vaccinate them.

We get ours locally, and seen today that rural King nearest us already has chick's. Wow that's early around hear. Wed have full grown chickens in the kitchen by the time you could put them out.

Rule of thumb was always get chick's around easter.

Still single digits this time of year here.

I looked online and was shocked at the cost of chick's. Honestly shocked. I don't want nothing fancy, but 3-4 dollars a head? That's crazy! Plus shipping on top of that? Just wow.

I set the order up for an end of March delivery hoping for good weather and all that.
Yes the chicks online once you get everything going is really high. My order of 15 with the vaccine and shipping ends up being 6 bucks a chick. Kinda high for sure. The Dark Brahama are not cheap at all. They are 7 dollars each at Cackle.

Ahhh, you're ordering from Cackle? I ordered from Ideal, that may be the big difference here! What's Cackles minimum chick order, I can't remember? I've only ordered guineas from them. Ideal has a minimum of $25 (which could include peanuts if you don't buy many to meet that dollar amount), so you just have to spend that amount to reach their minimum. I ordered 25 chicks this time (thought it was 23, oops) and didn't get a single peanut in my order. If Cackle is the same, then you shouldn't get any either if you up your order to 25. And, that is rather expensive! I even considered them a little expensive when I ordered my guineas from them, my order was over $100 for 15, but the other hatcheries I looked at had higher minimums, and I didn't want to be swimming in them so I paid more for less :/ Did you look around at other hatcheries? My order ended up being $94.84 including postage and boxing fees this time, so I paid about $3.76 per chick. When I placed my order, none of the breeds I wanted were available, so I just requested the next available hatch date. They sent me an email a couple of days later and said my chicks would be sent out Feb. 18th. Then I got a call a few days after that asking if they could move my ship date up. I opted to have them sent out on the 28th of this month! So, just because breeds are listed as unavailable, doesn't necessarily mean they are. I figure it just means they're hatching them out on an as needed basis.

I chose Cackle since they have a pretty good reputation and are closer to me than the others. The minimum is 15 but it says on the confirmation that additional may be added for warmth. Makes me worry.
I looked at several and was thinking Meyer but they are sold out on BA's for a very long time. I don't want them shipping when it is 100 degrees out so I had to make an order with someone else.
I know it sounds silly to really only want the BA's but they have been a favorite for a long time.

For the 15 birds and vaccine it came to about 90 dollars. I know that is a lot. The Brahama were 7 each and the others were about 3 each and 10 minimum charge for the vaccine.

OMG I didn't get any calls/text from Mcmurray but when I checked the website there's a tracking number!

My post office is not answering the phone at all. The USPS website says its departed from Des Moines. I just hope they're not freezing outside our post office or something

The wait is nerve wracking. I've imagined every possible scenario that could happen to them. -.-

OH NO. Now what. I guess all you can do is keep trying to call them. When did they depart Des Moines? How far to your city?

Update!! Google reviews are AWESOME!!! Someone had posted a different number there so I called it and they answered. I was able to give him my land line to call, and he said the trucks come in at 5:00 PM that is 2 1/2 hours away!
Des Moines is a 6 hour drive, but the website says it departed at 12:20 AM! lol they probably make stops everywhere... so you see why I'm worried lol
