This little lady we have had since she was only three hours old, we almost lost her as a poult so my fiance and I decided to keep her as a pet. We named her Chromie from the game World of Warcraft due to how tiny she was.

And last but not least my Muscovy ducks. They are not to thrilled with me as I'm dealing with a drake who's becoming aggressive with my females, he is about to bet his own pin away from them to see if he calms down any. He's nearly 7lbs and all three females are around 4-4.5 lbs.

I am from Southern WV, Northern Greenbrier Co. I have a small flock and are enjoying them very much. Anyone else from WV? I have a brother-in-law with a flock up in Marshall Co. Where my husband and I grew up on dairy farms. :)

Welcome! What all is in your flock?

I have mostly bantams at my home in Parkersburg (seramas, cochins, OEGBs, chocolate orps) and have a couple large fowl flocks (lav orps and golden comets) at my farm in Mason Co. Swedish ducks at both places too! :)

Good Morning :) I live north of Lewisburg WV, Renick to be exact on the side of Droop Mountain. I am originally from and grew up in Marshall Co on a Dairy Farm.

My flock is a motley crew lol

2 Buff Orpingtons, (Helia & Commet) 1 orpington/commet mix (Nova), 1 Easter Egger (Patina), 1 Easter Egger Cross w/ we think Brahma old stock she is very heavy (Corona),
all of these are about 1 year old.

My Silkies: Rooster White (Cirrus) He is just now feeling like a rooster crowing and protecting his flock he is abut 5 1/2 months we believe.

1 silkie partridge (Terra), 3 Black silkie (Smoke, Storm, and coal) we think these are hens but they are only 4 1/2 months and have not started laying or crowing.

I have had the silkies from July 20th and they were about a month old then. About two weeks ago I picked up the larger chickens hoping to get some larger eggs for eating, they have only given me a few eggs due to the stress of the move ect. I am sure. We had them in a divided fence for over a week so they could get to know each other. Then last Wednesday we started letting them out a few at a time. They only had a few squabbles and it was over, today there is minimal normal chicken fussing and pecking. I was so happy that it went so smoothly. :)

My husband and I are enjoying watching them come down the ramp and into the run each day, and watching them interact with each other.

Officially, I live Ohio but only because 12 years ago I was blinded by true love, fell into the Ohio River, and washed up on the banks of Marietta. I am a "Mountaineer-in-Exile."

I grew up in Wetzel County, but have lived all over the state. West Virginia will always be "home." My Buckeye husband rolls his eyes when I refer to something in WV as still being mine such as, "I can't believe our legislature passed that bill!" He reminds me that it's not my legislature anymore, and then I remind him it's not my turn to fix dinner, fold the towels, empty and refill the dishwasher, shop for groceries, etc. Pretty soon he straightens up and asks me what my WV governor has been up to lately.

I recently sold all but a couple chickens, so my chicken yard is in transition right now. I'll be putting hatching eggs in the incubator this weekend (LF Barred Cochins). Cochin hatch-lings plus a little chicken math and I'll have a full coop by summer.

Nice to meet you all...

Hi Pampered Chicken, I grew up near Moundsville WV, on a Dairy farm and Mom had a flock of approx 100 chickens as well. She sold eggs and butchered some for meat each fall.

I Love your story :) I met my husband in the same area he also grew up on a dairy farm, his Aunts dairy 5 miles from our farm but they did not have chickens. He is warming up to my chickens and loves watching when I let them out each morning. The other day he even referred to them as his chickens LOL. I guess he has accepted them:)
