Anyone in WV???

Haven't been on here in a very long time but was wondering if there are any other WV folks here. I live between Huntington and Charleston WV. Close to the KY< OH area.

Looking for other chicken folks to chat with. I am now down to 5 chickens. Thanks to various varmits on our farm--- that we know of- 3 bobcats which were eliminated last summer. (one was in the chicken house when found) scared the husband pretty bad. lots of raccoons, possums, and 1 coyote (that was also eliminated) came out about 20 yards from the front door. Boy they are scary looking animals. I had an original flock of 42 and had kept adding on. Even building another coop and run just for silkies. (had about 26 silkies that disappeared due to predators, they only left a few feathers. Still not sure how or what got them.

Now since we are down to 5 my husband has asked that I not get anymore until I finish Nursing school in 2008. So I guess the spring of 2009 I will add to my 5 little hens.

Look forward to getting to chat with the folks on this board. I have learned alot on here. And read some great info and stories.

I even got eggs last years from KY silkies that hatched out some of the most beautiful birds. I think I got 18 chicks out of 22 eggs.
That was thanks to this board.

Hi!

I'm from the southern part of the state and would like to hear from other members in the state .I don't have many friends who keep chickens and none of them are members here.I have small flock of Dominiques 6 months old and would like to find a flock raised rooster for my hens. They have an 8 x16 enclosed run made out of pallets to protect them from coyotes and other predators. If theres anyone else here from the Mountain state I'd love to hear from you.I'm from McDowell!

HI!
I'm from McDowell County and would like to meet other people in the county or near me ! I like keeping mixed flocks usually but this time around I decided to stick to one kind .I have a flock of 6 month old Dominiques and need a rooster to raise my own chicks. A farm raised cockerel from an established flock would work best!

My hens have a raised coop, predator proof enclosed runs (200 plus sq ft.)and will graze in a chicken tractor in a fenced yard with electric fence next year .I don't free range my hens due to a high predator load .

If you have a cockerel or young rooster that needs a good home please send me a private message or leave a comment below! His job will be fertilizing the eggs and keeping the hens company .He won't be invited to Sunday dinner so I hope I don't offend anyone!

I left here in the late 90's but moved back 7 years ago and retired after working at the state prison for a little while. Decided to get back into chickens so I made a coop this summer. Still have some odds and ends to wrap up before its done to my liking, nothing pressing! I'll try to upload some photos of my Dominiques if I can get them to be still long enough!Lol
