I cant decide which type of chickens to start off with. I know we will need duel purpose and since I have kept chickens before I am thinking Bielefelder, swedish flower, smaaland. I like to be different and have things no one around me has. I figure the first year I will get chickens and 2nd year get meat rabbits mostly for our use. Just rambling lol. And Blue Birchen marans I can't forget them lol!

I am thinking starting 2 hugelkultur in raised beds to see how that goes. I have quite a few trees that need to come down and we have a pellet stove so I figure I can put some of the wood in these. And since I dont have compost as of yet this wood be a great advantage for me. Just rambling again

Have you heard of Justin Rhodes? His vlog is a great place to get info on starting with chickens.

I’m considering following his example and running my feeder pigs with my chickens when they get a bit bigger.

We moved here from Prince George’s County MD, which is inside the DC Beltway, about 2.5 years ago. It’s great!
