Do you sell your eggs locally? We could sell 10 times what we have right now. I've got people on a waiting list for us to get more chickens.

Are you selling eating eggs or hatching eggs? If eating eggs, are there any regulations for selling eggs in WV? How much are you charging for a dozen? Do you sell by word of mouth or an ad?

Most of our flock isn't laying yet, but once they are I'm going to have tons of eggs and I've been wondering what to do with them.

Can you donate them to food banks?

I sell eating eggs.

And yes, I could sell umpteen dozen of them if I had them, and I am adding to my flock.

Everybody LOVES my eggs.

You can sell them to anyone you want to sell them. I did get a 'egg' license from the Dept. of Agriculture, but it was not a problem to get and $10/year.

You just fill in a form. I forget how many dozen you have to sell a month before you are commercial, but it is a lot, way more than I will ever sell, and the regs for a noncommercial seller are not bad.

I put them in clear plastic cartons with my own sticker on them to look pretty and so you can see the lovely eggs through the carton.

You can sell them to restaurants, grocery stores, neighbors, farmer's markets, whatever.

I'll try to find the number to call to find out the regs, but they are not a problem. Like, you have to have your name and address on the labels, and date of packing, which can be the 'Julian' date, and a 'use by' date. The use by date is your choice.

Many states are worse, this is a nice thing about WV.

I am planning to raise the cost of my eggs one of these days, probably in the fall, but I am glad to have a market for them that I don't have to scrounge about for that I will leave it at $2.00 for now.

Hey, Egg Stealer, where is Craigsville? I am in Fairview.

Next year (is it time to look forward to next year yet) I should have some VERY nice eggs I think.

This year they are all young birdies.
