I am usually against killing spiders---but I think you have very little choice in this case. I wouldnt sleep well with that spider in the house and I have HUGE spiders all over my house!

Does anyone know if alcohol (rubbing alcohol) will kill it. It's in a plastic jar and I don't want it to escape if I try to dump it out to kill it. The other option would be throwing the whole jar in the trash???? The truck comes by tomorrow and it would go to the landfill.

I would thik if you fill the jar up with rubbing alcohol it would do it. Thats how we killed ticks and what not a the vets. see what others say.

A cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol would do it...Close the lid tightly, give it a while to breathe in the fumes...It will die. My DH has a BIG bug collection...Although it did take 3 days for this HUGE beetle to die...

That looks like a Black Widow. Here's a pic of one. They look pretty much the same to me.
