not if its easily treatable..Maybe you got it in very early stages...kitties are adoptable in fast time frames. Could be better and adopted out within 2 weeks!!!
thanks m@m@2four I didnt see your post at first! I couldnt hurt to try! I am still gonna try to get it to the vet some way....calling my mom now to see if she can help me out with a loan. I called my vet and they are the ones who quoted me the $55.00 for a sick animal visit not including any meds.
Can this be given orally? or do you have to do shots? I am afaraid of doing shots...
I've used a mild boric acid solution on kittens before. Don't know how well the tea bag solution mentioned here will work, but I presume it's the tannic acid in the tea that has the effect. Anyway, if you're desperate, it might be worth a try. Good luck.
I got the duramycin and started treatment this morning. I will post and let you know how it goes. LIttle kitty was not looking good at all this morning. Eyes were swollen and stuck shut, nose was completely stuffed and kitty was mouth breathing and drooling. POOR POOR THING! Hes so cute too. I have named him Grayson. Here is a pic.
When we were younger and had kittens with eyes matted shut we used a warm wet teabag on them to open them up. The tannin in the tea does something. I'm sure it would hurt to try it on your babies eyes.
Yikes! The eyes look awful, but they are really secondary to the respiratory, you have got to attack that. You can help his congestion same as you would a baby, with a nebulizer. You can put him in a carrier or crate and cover mostly with a towel to keep the steam in. If you don't have a nebulizer, you can just put his carrier in the bathroom and run a hot shower to stean it up. A SMALL amount of chest rub on a cloth set just outside the carrier is okay, but remember that his nose is more sensitive than ours.
Yes I did take him in the bathroom and ran the hot steam shower this morning. It helped alot. I just hope this antibiotic works. I am gonna give it 4 days and if I dont see any improvement or if he gets worse at all I am going to call the rescue people. We really would like to keep him but I cant afford a couple hundred dollars right now. I just wish his timeing wasnt so bad and he would have showed up at my door BEFORE hubby was out of work or AFTER the first of the year when I will be more stable again.
