Anyone know how to treat Kitten with eye infection?

oh and the eyes in this pic is AFTER I cleaned them all up. They were much worse and all crusty this morning...as they are every morning. It just breaks my heart.

I've never tried it myself and I'm not a vet or vet tech or anything, but I've read that lysine can be helpful with cats that have URIs. You can google it and see if it's something you think you should try or not. It's an amino acid that's readily available over-the-counter. Good luck - he's a cutie.

Sorry about the little kitty.

I have not used duramycin to treat cats but you must use something and I think it will help a lot.

I know of a cat breeder that used the tea bags for kitten eyes. You also need something greasy to help keep it's eyes from crusting and closing up so bad. I would use Vaseline. I used to know Persian breeders that used Vaseline under the eyes so staining would not crust etc.

For it's eyes terramycin would be better but it is costly.

It's important to know that sense of smell has a lot to do with a cat when eating. Heat canned food up just a little so it will have more smell for it to eat. When I take canned food out of the refrigerator I heat it just a little in the microwave and stir it with my finger to make sure it is not too hot.

I hope this helps.

Have you tried neosporian(SP) ? I know a lot of people use that on their rabbits and chickens eyes if something pop ups. I would at least try it.

we are going to get some of that food that comes in pouches...I will warm it up a little on a plate and offer that mixed with the kitty chow.

Dunno if anyone has posted this yet, but we use Terramycin ointment for conjunctivitis and other eye issues at the rescue. It usually clears the eyes up real nice in a week or so. I think you can get it at TSC and other pet stores. I'm not quite sure where the rescue gets it, but I've also seen it for sale online.
