Hello this is my first time EVER owning chickens in my life. So please understand that I am "green" to this chicken thing. I have this 1 chicken that looks totally differentt form the rest and I think she is another breed that just got mixed in. I have 11 chickens total and they are about 5 weeks old now and just about fully feathered. We have a mix of buff orphingtons, rhode island reds, americanas (is that correct? thats what the feed store sign said or is is auricana. Im confused) and lastly 1 white leghorn. The chicken Im speaking about is supposed to be the americana. Can anyone help solve this mystery? Thanks

Welcome to the BYC!

If you go to the index tab at the top of the screen, then click on FAQ, there is information giving step by step instructions on how to post pictures. It is really easy once you do it.

If you can do that and then post pictures it would be much easier for someone on here to tell you what your chicken it.

Hope this help! Again, welcome to the BYC!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I posted the link...hope someone can answer "The" big question. My research points in the direction of a Silver Spangled Hamburg...Yikes, am I way off or what?

Does it have feathers on its legs? If so It could be a Light Brahama. It looks more like a Silver Laced Wyandotte to me you can tell by looking closely at the comb. Also check out this link and look at both Brahama and Wyandotte. It could be and Americauna but I have not seen a laced one quite like that.

There are photos of the babies, perhaps you can compare the baby pics to see if they look anything like your little one did.

It is a beautiful bird.

NO hair on feet. Her feet are a grey color. The other thing that is distinctly different on her is her beak. Her beak is a predominate orange with a black tip. She also tends to fly more than the rest as well is bigger than the rest of my chicks. would posting more pics help?
