I noticed this black bumps on my younger chicken's legs and feet. Anyone know what it could be?

Hi @JessicaM71988 :frow Welcome To BYC

Have you inspected the bottom of her feet?
Also look through her body under the feathers for any further signs of lumps, lesions or scabs - do you see any of the scab on her face, wattles or comb?
Is she eating/drinking well?

I'm not sure what that is - could be from injury, insects bites like Fowl Pox or some other disease. If you have vet care that would be best.

You can try soaking in warm epsom salts, betadine or chlorhexidine, then apply a some triple antibiotic ointment or Iodine to the scabs to see if they will heal.

Hopefully someone else will have a better idea.

I've never seen anything like that, either. I've just been cruising the internet looking for anything that resembles it. No luck.

The black lesions look like bumblefoot. But Bumblefoot results from injuries infected with staph. There are too many lesions on this chicken for injuries to account for it. I would lean toward parasites of some sort.

If this were my chicken, I would do some deep water soaks in spinosad on the chance there are parasites infesting those black areas. I would also treat the premises thoroughly. There are poultry ticks that can hide deep in crevices of a coop and they come out only at night to do their dastardly work.

Have you inspected your other chickens for any sign they are being affected?
