I am sorry I took the word "blather" out of my post and replaced it with the word "discussion". My statements are not intended to demote your beliefs or OTHERS opinions in any way. I just do not care for drawn out discussion and constant reference and quotation of a book I personally find no use for. There are 10's of thousands of other outlets to discuss the bible. I had just hoped this thread was not going to be one of them.

On a final note: Here is an ancient Chines proverb for us all to contemplate......

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck then it IS a duck....

Christian , orthodox quaker, quack. they are all labels and not individuals.

I don't know about anybody else, but I am beginning to feel like this is one of those "stealth" things you all were talking about. I didn't come here to debate and defend my beliefs/or lack thereof. Nor did I come here to read scripture and references from a useless book that are being tossed out when somebody makes a post. Yet that is exactly what I am doing. I normally am a pretty tolerant person, but my "tolerance" for this direction of conversation is nil right now.

As Orpington Manor so eloquently put it, "you can just shut the door." Hear that noise? That was my door slamming shut and the key turning in the lock.

I guess it is a good time for another reminder about the topic here.

This is not a debate on religions, nor a place to bash religion. This is not a place to persuade anyone to be religious. It is a discussion thread for those who are not religious.

There is a religion thread going and a pagan thread going. Please make sure you are posting in the one best suited to your needs.

Thank you.

Its tough not to quote things in the Bible in here when you know there is nothing so important to read.

I have to apologized for getting side tracked here. We all need to go to the mountain and see what's out there!

All of you got good points in here! Let's get back to the program...so Deb, do you have another interesting question for us???????

I am certain that we can all figure out what works for ourselves. no matter what, Im thankful for people with all kinds of thinking. Because it makes us think. It makes me question why I do or do not believe something. There is no book, or documentary, that says it must be this way. Its only what we choose to believe. Its not about "religion" that makes me decide if a person is nice, or intelligant, or anything. Religion is made up by man. men are right and wrong all the time. We all walk a path, throw out what doesnt work, hold on to what does. Nobody including myself can say this is the right way. What right for me could mess up someone and vise versa. I am thankful for everyone here, for making me think. I wont try to make you swallow my dish, but if you ask me whats in it Ill tell you. MUCH LOVE to all the thinkers.

And a final note to Redux,
Wow wee what a ride. God is what ever we choose him/or her to be if any. I believe there has been to much man made religion for anybody to get it. And I think many believers would rather consider themselves spiritual rather than religious. Although both open the can of worms.

Yeah, I guess if you believe in the bible, it is important. But if you don't believe in the bible, it is quite worthless. (Harry Potter is more important to me) !! When you don't believe, bible quotes mean nothing. "Because the bible says so" holds no water for me. So when I ask a Christian a legitimate question and the answer I get is quotes, references, scripture, etc. from the bible, it is a cop-out to me and frustrating. But I guess when I think about it that is what Christian's believe in and that is what they base their opinions on. So, in looking at it that way, I guess it would be hard for them to answer in any other context and perhaps I should not except any other response?

What about the morals question she asked a few pages back that was lost in the recent stuff?

My morals? If I don't want it done to me, I'm not going to do it to someone else. It's how I look at everything. Do no harm ( I think that's actually wiccan but it fits for me).

When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad, and that is my religion. - Abraham Lincoln

I took the test and these are my results. I don't know what a lot of these are, so I'll be busy doing a bit of research on them. Some of the questions didn't fit me, but I chose as close to possible of the answers. I also had a bit of difficulty deciding the "importance" of the questions.
