anyone notice anything different at Wal-mart (LONG RANT)

I avoid Wal-mart at all costs. In fact, the closest I ever get to one is when I go to the feed store located directly across the street!

Okay, at WalMart you are allowed 3 returns without a receipt in a 6 month period. The 4th time and you will be blocked from returning anything without a receipt for 12 months. This has been a policy for 4 years or more. The reason behind this policy is due to theft. You have people that will go boost something at one store and then return it at another for the cash. 2 years ago they instituted a policy that anything over $50.00 and no receipt went on a gift card. There were people stealing computers, TV's and other High Dollar items at one store and then returning them at another.

One more thing, when you are bringing something back and the people greeter stops you and puts those stickers on your items, it is so that they know you came in the store with them. Do Not take it personally, people. Thieves are everywhere and some don't even leave the store and try to return things that they lifted off the shelves or racks at customer service.

I, like alot of other people on here, am on a very limited income and have to be very frugal with my money. So I do shop around and I do compare prices. I use coupons, and WalMart still price matches competitors ads as well on most items. So if you see something at another store at a lower price, take the ad with you and they will price match it.

Wal mart used to be one of my favorite stores. Not for the shopping, because I hate to shop, but because it was a company that allowed drip investing.

However, like all stock companies, they are subject to the whims of the big stock holders. I just have to wonder how much of Wal mart's stock is now held in China.

I wonder what would happen if our government instituted a heavy tariff on imported goods? Maybe some of us would get jobs.

The ideal of free trade sounds good, but in practice it isn't. Companies controlled by foreign governments will buy one item and then knock off millions of copies to dump on our market.

I have seen Chinese products sold at Wal mart for less than what it would cost to ship them here. It is called dumping, and it is a way of destroying the native industry of a country.

Eventually, the industrial plants get shipped to China along with the jobs.

The Hawley Smoot tariff is blamed by economist for lengthing the depression. However, it preserved our industrial base. When World War II started, we had plants ready to produce. What would have been the case if all of the industrial plants had moved to Japan during the depression?

I sure hope we never have to fight a war with China.

Hey you can thank the Unions, Bush and Regan for everybody's jobs going across the border and overseas. If they weren't so greedy then maybe alot more of us would still have jobs. I grew up in Detroit, and now it's a ghost town with the third highest murder rate in the country. You can't blame a company for trying to make a profit and going where it costs less to manufacture items for sale.

As to the community being treated like a parasitic host, you couldn't be more wrong. They have a strong corporate outreach to the community. In 2007 alone they donated over $25,000,000 to local charities and community outreach. They are still one of the few stores that still allow the Salvation Army to have the Red Kettles out in front of their stores. Target won't allow them because it affects their image! Each store has a contact person and is given a certain amount of money each month to disperse to the community in requests for donations. They strongly support the Children's Miracle Network and a host of other charities.

AS to treating their employees like garbage, they have one of the best employee benefits programs going. Also each employee can put in a request for up to $1000.00 dollars from corporate to help out in a crisis situation. When Katrina hit, WalMart was one of the first companies to respond as well as take care of their employees.

I don"t think Reagan or Bush had much to do with Detroit losing jobs. That rests on the UAW. They committed employment suicide.
