Anyone on BYC in college at the moment? Come say Hello!

What kind of graphic design do you do? Mainly text or more a lot the lines of, for example, magazine article and such?
I really want this semester over as well. i have a bunch of assignments i need to work on. I was sick with pneumonia for 2 weeks and now have 4 revisions and a project due Teusday. I have already put 18-20 hours into my project and don't even want to think about my revisions!

I'm not that great at text, but I can do it. I always seem of over-kern some words though. I can do short lines of text for layouts in articles and such, but would never be able to layout a book.I've been talking to my adviser and right now, I'm planning on writing and illustrating a children's book for my senior project.

I added Marketing at the beginning of my junior year because I realized I did not really want to totally be a graphic designer as a profession, and would rather work on the research behind projects (market research, target audiences, ethnography of an area, etc.) I was taking 18-19 credits a semester, with summer classes, so I only had to take a couple more graphic design classes to fulfill that major, and then I decided to add marketing as a second major and so instead of graduating early, I'm graduating on time with two majors.

I'm not technically in college right now, but I graduated last December. I can't believe it's already been a year since I've been out! I was supposed to go four years, but had to stay an extra semester since I decided to do a business minor. I have my bachelors of science in biology with a concentration in pre-professional studies. Right now I am waiting to hear back from veterinary schools. I submitted applications to five schools so I am crossing my fingers!

My parents let me keep my chickens as well throughout college, though I decreased the number quite a bit. Now that I'm done with school, I've been enjoying my birds and was able to increase the numbers a bit. I have about 30 chickens right now and two geese. I will miss them when I go away to school again!

Also, I wish there had been more college kids who loved chickens as much as I did. In fact, I wish there were more people in general who like chickens (or even just birds) as much as I do! People generally thought it was funny that I love chickens so much.

I am a 21 year old college student earning an Associates in Business, will be graduating this Spring 2013! My boyfriend and I live together on 5 acres in Colorado. He transformed an old tool shed into a chicken coop for me last year. I've been hooked ever since! I also have a Quarter Horse, "Miss Dr. Pepper"!

Now that I'm nearing the end of my degree, I'm considering other fields of study I'd like to pursue... Veterinary, Agriculture, and Property Management are a few programs that I am feeling drawn to. B.Y.C. member a few replies above me mentioned she was earning a degree in Avian Biology...that is awesome!

I agree with the above comments, thank goodness I only have one more final for this semester!! Buuut it's organic chemistry... Graphic design sounds like fun!

I also wish more people were into chickens, my neighbors think I'm crazy.lol. But their kids love coming over!

Oh and anyone have any suggestions: my roo is beginning to be aggressive with my hen. He bites her neck a lot. I'm worried he is going to make her skittish and pull out her feathers (she's a silkie). She follows him everywhere and huddles with him thou. What should I do?

Oh and Kristin brown, if you are interested in pursuing something in the avian field you can google Uga graduate programs and email dr davis ([email protected]) for some more info on the programs! It's such a fun major! I hope to eventually go to vet school and be an avian vet :)

Thanks for the advice! Do you think a Colorado college in my area might offer something? My boyfriend, Levi, would never consider moving because he has a great job here working in the wind turbine industry. I will have to do more research on Avian Biology. I've been taking so many online courses lately...Just craving to get into an on-campus program!
