Anyone order from Farwest hatchery out of Oregon??

I just found out about Farwest last night in Backyard Poultry. Their website looks good. They have the breeds I want and at good prices. But after reading through this thread I am having doubts about ordering from them. It would really be nice to buy local and at good prices. Maybe I better just stick with the feed stores I have bought from in the past. I sent them a few questions tonight. I will be interested to see if/when they reply.

Hi been reading this thread feel bad for everyones terrible experiences it's to bad especially when you try to help a new smaller local co.and have to go through that.

I am wondering if 2013 will be better for them or not?

Tempted to order their Frying Pan Special because it is a really good price and shipping would be minimal.

May give it a try later in the year and see what happens.

Hi, I was thinking about ordering Silkies and frizzles from Farwest Hatcheries, but the reviews are NOT looking to good.
Has anyone out there ordered from them this month? How was your order handled and did you recieve the chicks you ordered and how was their health?

Ok this is NOT sounding to good! I called the hatchery about ordering the silkies and frizzles but did not feel to comfortable with ordering. She seemed hesitate to answer my questions about the order and shipping. Don't know if she is new at answering the phone or what? I am still contemplating placing a order. I just don't want to doom baby chicks to death if this hatchery is still working out its kinks! Will post if I do order!

On their stock:

My delaware is missing a nail on one of her toes, and her comb doesn't look right. The black copper marans hen also has a wonky nail and she's got white feathers on her head. My dominique has a crooked toe. Their "ameracaunas" are actually Easter Eggers, but they look and lay great. But I had roughly 50% males in my order of pullets. Just so you know.
