Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

I finally jumped on my treadmill tonight. Couldn't believe how quick I tired out. I keep telling myself baby steps.

We had 84 degrees today!!! I should have walked the dogs, but instead I built a table to set a dog house on in my run....thinking about getting a few bantams and want a place for them to get away from the LF.

Wildorchid, you have a beautiful home and property. All that wonderful flat land!!! What I could do with that!!

Great job KnockKneed! Doesn't matter how quickly you tire out. Just matters that you *did it*!

I walked the dog today. That was my exercise. Tomorrow, I'm hoping it'll be nice enough outside for me to hop on my bicycle. If not, I'll bike on the stationary bike inside.

i find it funny that nupine started this site but hasn't weighed in... someone needs to get her in here!!!!

anna thank you for all the support.. your fantastic girl

That is a good point! Someone should start PMing and reminding people so everyone knows we are watching, and we do care.

I did Yoga for nearly 2 years, last fall I got so busy I quit, and with our financial situation I stopped our gym membership. But today when I get home from the library and walmart, daughter and I are going to start the yoga back up, in baby steps. I know I can no longer do a head stand at this point. (I did this in a room full of skinny girls! So ha! Us fat chicks can do splits, headstands and bend backwards too!)

Anyways, you guys are keeping me really motivated, I see how well you are all doing and after all this time I gotta get back on the wagon, and STAY!

You are all amazing!

I am trying to sort a few things out for going away.
I am a wee bit depressed about the weight right now as I never lost anything last week or the week before. So I still can;t fit comfortably into the clothes I like and want to take with me.

It is really hard going at times especially since I am not seeing any results??? I have really tried hard to cut out a lot of the sweet things. I have even been using the cross trainer and I am trying to get out to walk the dogs more often. DH and I even did some excersize on the Wii which was fun but I really do need to start feeling thinner and getting soemthing off the weight??????

Anyhow - have a bad headache as its taken nearly all day going through my wardrobe and sorting things ( Nearly ended up in narnia!). I had a big pile of deffinates then another one of maybes and then thought - OMG - I need to put it all back in the cupbord cause the weight restriction on the plane means all I can take is SHOES!!!!!! - at least I know they will FIT!!!!!!!!!!!

Am giving up now. - maybe I will try a few things on and think again later?????? The SHOES are a safe option???

Oesdog - a few questions
1. are you getting enough sleep
2. are you tracking your eating
3. is your thyroid working right (when's the last time you had blood workup done?)
4. are you getting enough water

All of these are necessary for healthy weight loss. If you're missing out on any one of the 4, you may not see results. I had that when I first started years ago - didn't track my eating and had NO IDEA how many calories I was putting in. Between too-large of portion sizes, and too high of fat, no wonder I wasn't losing. If your thyroid isn't working right, you can't lose weight properly either. And if you're not getting enough sleep or water, your system may be holding on to the fat to try to protect you.

For now, while you rejigger your system, you may need to content yourself with the fact that you're no longer gaining. Sometimes, that's the first step.

Sorry to hear you're feeling down. I hope that the trip helps. And just make sure you've got good comfortable walking shoes so you can get plenty of walking in, whereever you go.

oesdog....just remember jewelry always fits. I had the revelation after a particularly miserable day at the department store; nothing I tried on fit or fit right. Everything looked awful, and the mirrors were enough to make a person cry. Then I walked through the jewelry section. It all fit, it all looked pretty, and it made me feel good. I now make my own. I don't have a work space since we rearranged the house, but I will get back into it.

Also, try not to get discouraged. It's always hard when you start. What I have occasionally found is I'll have a week or so where I've done everything I should and the weight doesn't budge, then I step on the scale and see a huge difference.

Thanks Annaraven -
1st I never get enough sleep as I am constantly up with our disabled boy Danny he is 23yrs old now but needs round the clock care. He usually only sleeps a couple of hours so DH and I take turns. That wont change so we have to live with it. We get about 3-5 hrs if were lucky. Not ideal but survivable. I eat more when I am tired!!!
2nd - I am trying to track the eating it helps to keep a diary but I don;t count calories as I forget how many are in what and it all gets a wee bit too bothersome to go check packaging all the time.
3rd - my thyroid is fine it was all checked out when I had the cancer scare so I know its ok.
4th - probably not actually as I drink loads of coffee to keep me awake!!!!! Hay and there is only a coffee drinkers thread on here not a water drinkers one!!!!!!! I really should drink more water and less coffee thanks for the tips!!!!
