Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

mom'sfolly :

oesdog....just remember jewelry always fits. I had the revelation after a particularly miserable day at the department store; nothing I tried on fit or fit right. Everything looked awful, and the mirrors were enough to make a person cry. Then I walked through the jewelry section. It all fit, it all looked pretty, and it made me feel good. I now make my own. I don't have a work space since we rearranged the house, but I will get back into it.

Also, try not to get discouraged. It's always hard when you start. What I have occasionally found is I'll have a week or so where I've done everything I should and the weight doesn't budge, then I step on the scale and see a huge difference.

Thanks so I am going to look great naked - with comfy walking boots and a great bit of bling!!!!!!!!!!

I soooo empathise with the shopping trip. I hate buying clothes as it all looks lovely on the peg but as you say in the mirror on me YUCK!!!!!! All my humps and bumps are in the wrong places!!!! My DD used to pick up stuff all the time and not have to try it on!!!!!! But me I take ages in the changing rooms and then usually come out with nothing but a headache and feeling really awful!!!!! - Maybe I should just concentrate on shoes and jewlery???

Get some comfy stuff then *accessorize*. Jewelry, pretty scarves (scarves always fit), nice comfy but pretty walking shoes, a pretty purse. Who cares about the clothes - they're just a canvas for the accessories anyways!

You'll look great, I'm sure. And the best thing to wear? A healthy glow from having a nice walk. Speaking of which, I'm getting on my bike now and going to the store to see about more agave. Thanks for reminding me that I want to exercise more! (Doesn't matter how much you weigh if you're not fit.)

I'm starting at 178 lbs. I'm 5'6" . Starting to eat better and moving more! I did 20 min. on the elliptical last night. I always tell myself at least 5 min.

WTG Silkie! Sometimes we just need to move more. I'm 5'4" and I noticed I hit 180 in September, and I almost fell out and hit the floor face first!

20 lbs later and I can see the finish line....

So ya'll are a good influence on me. I rode my bike to the store today instead of driving! Only about a mile there and a mile back but still. It was more than I've ridden in months.

And then, instead of grabbing fast food, I said "what'll I tell the folks at BYC?" so I had some lunch at home, where I can control how much fat and calories I take!

Having someone to be accountable to besides myself, helps a lot. This thread is great for that!

I've done weight watchers and this thread is way better. With weight watchers I always felt like I was in some sort of weird church service and instead of shouting out amen it was all rah rah weight loss stuff.

I'm about to get below 220, which to most of you probably sounds like a huge weight, but it will be a big milestone for me. You've all been so supportive, it really helps.

Biking to the store sounds like a good way to start. It is more fun that just biking inside too.
