Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

I did a strength training workout today. My abs are probably going to be too sore for me to get out of bed. That will be okay because I had takeout pizza for dinner tonite...with meat and everything, so rolling out of bed is probably the only option I have.

Sammileah, I've got at least 60 to lose, so you're not alone.......

Is a Margarita a diet drink?

I want you to know, I skipped the salt.

I am not looking at the scales until tomorrow.

Its freezing here at the moment with thick frost on the ground again. Gets down to - 8 at night. I really need to do some excersize - I need to do something to strengthen my tummy but what is easy to do????? because I have had lots of surgery my muscles don;t seem to work that well. So I need to do something easy to get them going.

I use the cross trainer which is great for me because I have fibromyalga ( Which is a kind of Arthritis ) So if one bits sore I can push with another bit!!!!

I have to go walk the dogs!!!!!!!!

oh yea, that salt will add pounds of water weight! You did well!

I think if we do not allow ourselves normality, then even if we lose all of our extra weight we will gain it right back again.
We need to live our lives as we enjoy-just not so much.

I still eat chocolate, but a piece not a bar.

I don;t eat salt much at all!!!!!!!!! - Since DH had the heart surgery we stopped adding salt to anything and are careful to buy low salt products. Now if we do get crisps or something like that we find it hard to eat because the salt is too sickening. We don;t add it and even DH doesn;t add much to his baking BUT I STILL SEEM TO CARRY WATER WEIGHT???????

I would find it very difficult to have just one square of chocolate - I am terrible for that and so I have to be ruthless and stay away altogether. I am the one who can;t take JUST one biscuit I finish the packet!!!!!

The one good thing about going away soon is that there is loads of Fish and salad and healthy stuff to eat on the menu in Spain and we tend to do a lot more walking while away so I am looking foward to that bigtime.

Thought I would say - one thing I noticed when I cut down a lot on salt and sugar and fat - things tasted different, I mean better and nicer and fresher. Does anyone else notice that??????

I gave up soda! Man was that hard. But I refuse to give up my coffee.

I'm calling this the SIN BALANCE. For every not so good thing I give up, I get to keep one thing and do it once a week. Out with fast food & soda... but I get my coffee with creamer & a few biscotti or baked good I make a week. No more processed hamburger helper junk for dinners in the house anymore, but we still get our weekly pizza night. Believe it or not, pizza is actually the WAY better choice.

SO find yourself something nice, a treat and give it to yourself each week for not drinking the soda (especially DIET soda).

I have to find the article again, but they've found some ingredient in diet soda actually causes you to have hungry cravings!!!! BAD FOR YA!

Oesdog, I've had some water weight issues... including when it was 'that time of the month' I would bloat and add on 2 lbs that week. Then it was just GONE. Also, watch your salt intact. Salt will cause bloating and water weight gain too. Salt is in a lot of processed foods these days, so even if you don't add it... its there! Read the packages and see where the 'salt' is on the ingredient list... if its in the middle or top of the list, too much... if its the last 2 ingredients, not so bad.

I actually can't wait to weigh in tomorrow.... even if I didn't do well this week, I've taken my seriousness up a notch, and I'm sticking to it with you guys, so I just feel good

Yes I know there is lots of salt in food you buy - DH and I grow a lot of our own stuff now and we tend to do a lot of our own cooking so steer clear of the processed food stuff. We simply cannot have a lot of salt since DH had the Heart surgery, he isn;t allowed to. Thats what I was saying even though we cut out as much salt as possible I still seem to carry water weight - especially round the time of the month when I can litterally gain half a stone!!!!!

Like you I am encouraged by the weigh in. It is a goal and although I get upset a bit that I haven;t yet lost anything on the chart at least it is there and I can work away at it. I am too turning my seriousness up a notch!!!!!!!!!! I do feel better having cut down a lot this week!!!! I even had toast today without the butter on it!!!!!

I dare not look at the scales until tomorrow. I guess I will be one of the first to post as I am 5 hrs ahead of you lot!!!

Oh Oesdog, do not distress.

Sometimes you have break habits first for rewards to follow... maybe your body is still adjusting to the changes. I do have a friend who started dieting with me, didn't lose any weight for a month!

But then she came to me and said she was able to cut back on her vitamins and no more IBS problems at all! She was visiting doctors trying to figure out all these things wrong with her stomach and other health issues. She's spent $100s on tests! She quit dieting and things started to bother her again internally... so she got back on the 'healthy' eating train with me anyways. She's only lost about 5 lbs in the last 5 months, but she says its worth it because at least she feels normal, and no more doctor's visits.

I think maybe when her body is done correcting itself maybe the weight lose will continue (however, I do notice she eats 'more' then a normal serving allows, but I won't say anything long as its healthy food choices!).

You are being healthy and that is AWESOME!

Oh thanks for that - I am sooo trying to be good. I have not had a cream cake for ages!!!!!!!!!

Trying to avoid them is like standing on land mines in my house!!!! Have to explain "what is wrong with my cooking etc DH!!!!!" He is a helpful baker!!!
I think sometimes its all the stomach surgery I had that causes me to have the water weight issue???? I really hate my tummy soooooooooo much!!! I would have loved to be able to just once in my life wear a Bikini and know I look fantastic - however I don;t think that will happen now at my late stage in life!!!

) DH bless him did offer to buy me a tummy tuc!! But I am a coward!!!!!! I don;t think he realised how painful it is and due to a history of scar tissue problems it certainly wouldn;t have been a good idea!!!!!!! So I will just have to work on getting them muscles going again!!! It is sooo good to have so many nice folk encouraging us isn;t it!!!!
lol.png
I really do think I am going to get there this time!!!!

Oesdog - may be a late bloomer!
