Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

Great idea... and good point!

I have cut out the side of rice or mashed potatoes... Things that used to go over noodles or another starch is out!

Once in awhile, like with my veggie stew, I will pour it over No Yolks noodles. The rest of the time I use it as it is... a veggie stew!

During lunch, I will make open faced sandwiches... just one slice of bread and I eat with a fork and knife.

Simple chances that make a world of difference, and I'm still full!

I don't get it...yesterday I weighed myself ('cause I was feeling sooooo much thinner, HA!) and I was 168....so today I jump on the scale and it says 171.2 ?????? I have to make that my official weight, but I don't have to be happy about it.

Not giving up!! I see all of you coming back so I must forge on!!! All the kids have the flu...counting on getting it, may be the only way I get to lose a pound or two.

I'm so excited! I can do this... this is a great way to have accountability, thanks everyone! My pants aren't so tight today.
I told my mom about this thread and she wants to know if she can join the thread to. Is that ok with everyone? I'll just put her on the spreadsheet as my mom. She does keep chickens to!

I don;t think anyone will mind your mum doing this too !!!!!!!
It is good you have her support at home and you can give eachother support and help on here too!!
lol.png

I can tell you I wish my mum would help me !!!!!!

We want your mom here too!
congratulations to you!
I find that reading about everyone else's ups and downs, and fails and successes helps me realize that i am just as human. i am not oddball. and if I am, then I am in the best company of oddballs on the planet.

last night I thought about how this thread has some of the nicest and kindest people on it. I would love to have you all for neighbors.

I gained my pond (Edit* I would perfer a pond, but, alas.. It is a pound.

) back. But I think not breathing and staying stock still for a week might have had something to do with that. Once the prednisone is over and I can get enough energy to walk and clean house again, then I will get back down into the forties again.
I have you all for support and to keep me focused on health, so I know I will be successful.

oesdog, we are neck and neck! so...the race is on!

What can I do to help keep you encouraged? I also do not want you obsessing about each mouthful or worrying about the little ups and downs.
Let us do this, let's measure ourselves. arms, thighs, waist... (
sad.png
...not my happy place) and...what else?
and then just when we feel that we are not getting anywhere, then we will measure again. I think we are rearranging things. Muscle is denser than fat. If we are not losing weight, but we are losing centimeters, then it is all good. And our good food choices might be slimming our heart first, which will help us get more energy for the long run.

We are good.

Oesdog - there *is* less of you. Less fat. More muscle. Did you know that muscle weighs *more* than fat but is denser so takes up less space?

How are your clothes fitting? A wee bit better perhaps? More important, how are *you* feeling? Able to be more active without getting winded? Just a bit? You are making progress.

You need to start using somethng like fitday.com or sparkpeople.com to track how much and what you're eating. Make ssure you're not starving yourself.

I'm off to the farmers market now. I'll weigh when I get back. (Forgot this morning and already had breakfast.)

What EB said, AND...I know this sounds counter-productive, but you might not be eating ENOUGH...you need to add in a couple of small healthy snacks in there somewhere. That's one thing that I learned from weight watchers, if I don't eat enough, I don't lose either...
And, the day you ate nothing, your metabolism went down the toilet, so your body hold onto EVERYTHING you eat for a bit after that. The key is to stick with it!! Don't give up now, you've come so far!!!!!!!

Thanks but that is the point - I haven;t actually come anywhere!!!!!! I lost 2 lbs that took me weeks to achieve and then I put it all back on!

If I write down everything I eat perhaps you guys can help me a bit because I am falling so far behind now and feel so well down about it really.

Today so far I have eaten
Drank a coffee at about 7 am
9 am - Another coffee and a thin slice of toast with Butter and a jam for breakfast.
11 am - Coffee and a plain digestive
1pm - Coffee, slice of thin toast with butter and an egg on top.

- Yeah I see NO water and too much coffee ??????

I just need this support or I feel I will just go stuff myself with Cheesey Chips!!!!!! NO NO NO!!!!!!!! I can;t think that way.

Oesdog - HELP HELP HELP - Keep me strong cause I am sooo disapointed with myself right now.

From a nutrition perspective:

1 you're not eating enough - even -I- eat more than this! The reason your body doesn't lose when you stop eating is because it freaks out and stores it thinking it won't get another meal. This can happen from not eating enough ONE time. 2. Too much carbos. Your fat and protein weren't until 1pm. And even your fat... you definitely need more fat in your diet. 3. Too much coffee - this will definitely cause you to retain water. It will also overwork your body (caffeine jitters) and cause your stomach to seize and not eat as well as stop your metabolism functioning properly.

I recommend (as a student, not a professional) to try only 1 or 2 coffees a day. Eat your egg earlier to start the protein before your body. Consider eating it with an avocado. Eat more often and eat more protein rich snacks - like nuts, seeds, legumes or have fruit. Digistives are a little worse for you than most people think, because they're so small plain and simple. It's not harming you any, really, you're not having more than one, but I'm just saying add perhaps to it something protein-y or larger, like fruit. It'll hlp keep your stomach working.

Try to eat more for breakfast and less for dinner. The huge thing was "Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a peasant, dinner like a pauper" is how humans are DESIGNED to eat (but even I don't hahahaha, and I'm supposed to know this stuff).... your body does it's very best breaking down in the morning and doesn't do well with a lot of food sitting on it at night - so you're more likely to gain with teeny breakfasts and a huge dinner than you are with a huge breakfast and a tiny dinner. It's REALLY hard to adopt this method of thinking though. I could never get it. But when I did try, I did feel heaps healthier.

mom'sfolly :

Up one more pound, I blame the buffet and the Tres Leches. Dang birthdays anyway.

Oesdog, just keep in mind that you are making healthy changes, and those will add up. Your diet while you were away sounds very good, lots of fresh veggies and lean protein. It will catch up, I'm sure of it.

Wildorchid, congrats on the steady downward progress. It looks like you are doing all the right things.

Sometimes genetics plays some mean tricks on us size wise, being so little or so big. My mother can eat me under the table. She is 5'11', weighs 110 pound (she had a more normal weight when younger) has legs up to her armpits, and is fine boned. She wears a size 6 pant, extra long (I think), and her shoe size is 7 and ring size about a four. Me, I'm shorter, but not by much and I out weigh her by 100 pounds; but even when thin, my feet are size ten, my ring finger is a size nine and I have short legs. Even thin, most people would describe me a "sturdy". Not a good lovely adjective for a girl! We'd both look better if we split my excess weight.

EB, I know here in the states they have special shops for petite women, surely they have the same in Australia. Getting clothes that are proportioned for an adult will feel better than the kids clothes. They might be more expensive, but might also be worth if. Another thing I've realized is that if something is almost right, and a decent item, tailoring makes sense. An up charge of $10 for an item to fit perfectly and make you look great is worth it. Good luck.

Thanks!! I already get things tailored but I find 'petite' shops seem to cater to old women or young girls. I'm neither. I don't want to wear a bright pink shirt with "I <3 My Boyfriend" emblazoned on it. D: D:

BUT!! I am always happy to discover nearly EVERYTHING designer fits me. My problem is I'm simply not buying enough Gucci or Dior, right?

The only good that comes from looking like a heroin addict.
