Anyone set with me this weekend? Set 28 October - Hatching 18 November

I think i may have a few quitters in my bunc, but it's hard to tell. I really hate the idea of throwing them out when I'm not sure, but I also hate the idea of the potential to contaminate my bunch if one were to burst. How common is it for a rotten egg to explode???
What day are you on?I leave mine in to at least day 10 and usally day17.,.before i lockdown, before remove any iffy ones
If they grow in the next week from where ever you are now...then they are still good..I thihk some ppl put a line on with a pencil to see if there is growth later

. I dont know how common exploding is. I do know out of 9 hatches and some none developed at all but went to day 22 i have had a few slow leakers but none explode
It can happen though Most ppl dont want to take the chance. I have heard a lot of ppl too opening an egg thet thought was a quitter to fine a live baby too. Its a hard call sometimes .I go with waiting for my own.. unless they are for sure clear or smell. MIght be dangerous though!

My Cochin has been in there for 3 days now sitting on one of her eggs, an EE egg and a golf ball, LOL. I don't think she's left to eat or anything though. Should I put food and water in her box? She's been wanting to go broody since she started laying and when I got her I also got 3 silkie chicks and she immediately was mothering them and protecting them. I want to leave the chicks in there because I saw her protect the silkies so I know she'll do i,t but I still worry as I have a buff orpington that is a nasty girl attitude wise.

I havent had one go broody yet but i have read a lot on byc for months Most ppl like to put the broody and eggs separate from the others just so the mean ones dont cause problems
Either fence of or put her and eggs food and water too i guess in a dog carrier etc.She may need to have food and water put near her im not sure on that.

Well I candeled again last night and 6 of the 7 look great - still have one that's questionable, very porous and not sure if it's developed much. No blood ring though. I don't mess with them much since all I have to do is add water every 2 days.

Water every 2 days?...I wish!!!I add water every hour or 2!!! Does yours stay the same humidity for 2 days?

I also started on 28th oct .. havin only 7 eggs still alive... I successfully hatched two times before, this is my third... I am joining all of u too and waiting for 18th

I have thrown out my experimental 24 eggs, which leaves me with 6 promising hatches in the first set (today is day 12) and 24 (give or take a few) in the second set (day 9?)

what happened to the experimental eggs? What kind of bator were they in? I am soooo excited to say that I have 2 out of 7 definitely growing and maybe 2 more

The two good ones are my EE/SILKIE cross eggs and the two that maybe are my RIR which are pretty dark brown. But I have spider looking veins looking like a day 3-4 candling. I am doing a dry hatch also. I couldn't get my temp to stay even with the water in there so I took out my sponge and tray and I will add the wet sponge to get the humidity up to 55%.

Hi to the newcomers!!
