Anyone setting eggs May 1st?

yea!! Will she let you look at them? Especially this late!? Lavender? Orps? Those are beautiful birds!!

She's my big sweety, she doesn't care what I do with the eggs, doesn't even puff up anymore ...at me that is, she growled pretty scary-like at my curious house cat who was assisting me with gathering the eggs. My other broody I have right now lets me look under her but makes a big fuss about it.

Oh that's awful.  I always think the worse is going to happen the one night I don't crawl under the coop to get the two new ones (so I crawl on my hands & knees thru mud & poop and use the hoe to drag them out) but now thankfully, they've started going in to the coop at night.

I think normally she would. She had in operation on her abdomen a week ago and it's still a little sore. I was going to give her some anyway since she got just one from the school and it's lonely. But now she wants to get them the same time the ducks are suppose to hatch.

So glad we have some chicks making their way out. I peeked quickly this morning, no action under my broody but I wasn't expecting any babies till tomorrow. More waiting, Drats!

I went down to tuck Dixie in and noted she had kicked out the BLRW egg.

I grabbed it and decided to candle it up at the house and while I was at it I grabbed the Welsummer egg which was underneath her yet. As I grabbed it I saw it had a big push in dent/crack. Shucks. I cracked it open --the Welsummer. Definitely a dud...no development and a watery yolk mess. She knows her business. So being in denial I gave Dixie back the BLRW with a "mass" floating yet...and she rolled it underneath her diligently and no doubt rolling her eyes at me.

LOL. I'll keep an eye on it over the next day or so and see if it gets scooted out again.

I am loving the pictures and the anticipation of all the chicks to come from all your hatches. It brightens my day.

I have been in bed, sick, since Monday afternoon. Guess what has kept me occupied when I'm not sleeping? Yep, BYC!

Today mama hen took her chicks outside for the first time. I went out in my bathrobe to watch them for a little while. Mama kicked some butt when another hen didn't give them enough space. She also flew at my dogs who came over to welcome the fluffies. They came and sat at my feet to watch from safety.

Checked big mama broody when I was locking up coops and she has one zipping!!! I didn't look if any others were I put her right back down lol. So excited! When I got home from work and let her off the nest, there weren't any pips or anything. This is a fast little guy!

Went into Lockdown, Day 18 yesterday and sitting here drinking my coffee and watching 6 blue eggs in the Brinsea MA. I saw little movement in one egg...woo hoo... of the 6,, 3 have the wonkiest, largest air cells from shipped air cell displacement. So.. we shall see. I hope that the little ones can negotiate getting into place in such a small area. All of them were moving and I even saw two little beaks upon candling them for the last time. So neat!

Wish me luck!

Oh joyful, I'm sorry to hear you are sick, but at least the company is good for you! I think I am almost done with the hatch...and just waiting for snowball to have her peeps!

Yea!! How awesome!!

I have 1 out of 4 with movement but no pip. This is my first hatch ever! I'm super excited! Any advice for a newbie?

Just sit back and wait and watch. Try to do something to keep you occupied or it will seem like forever!
