Anyone Setting eggs on 4/10/12??? Want to hatch with me?

Well, I just went ahead and candled them. I didn't see any movement I'm afraid. :( I think I see some veins, but without any movement of any kind I more or less admit defeat for now. I'm going to leave them in the bator for a while, just in case. My brother-in-law hatches hundreds of chicks a year and he'll be here this Saturday. When he is here I'll have him walk me through an egg-topsy and figure out what I did wrong.
So sorry! :( Well, you can always try again! Is this your first time hatching? Because I went through several months trying to actually hatch some eggs (this was with a small bator that could only hold two eggs, so I probably didn't go through any more than 6-8). After I had gotten a bigger bator, I finally got my first chick (only one, but after it hatched late, I was happy with that).

This was my second attempt. I tried once in march with just 5 eggs, and then I set 7 on April 10th. I'm already collecting eggs for the next batch that I will probably put in this Sunday. I have about a dozen eggs so if my chickens keep laying this week I'll try to lay down 20 for the next try. Third times a charm right?

well so far I have had 3 hatch. the first one I moved too soon and he did not make it. the 2nd was just too early. yolk had not been completely absorbed. the hole finally closed but there were vital things on the out side so I did the humane thing. No since in letting him suffer like that. Both the 1st and 2nd ones hatched on day 18. the 3rd hatched about 5pm today and so far so good. have 3 more that have pipped one has a little beak sticking through the hole but so far has not made a whole lot of progress. hopefully the ones that have pipped will be out sometime tomorrow. Friday is day 21 so hopefully the rest will hatch on out.

it currently 7:25am here and so far I have had 5 hatch and only 2 survive. I have no idea what happened to #3. Was hatching good when I went to check on it again he was not moving but had made it 3/4 of the way a round had about a 1/4 inch or less to go. I have not the first clue what happened. But so far so good on #6 though (which is the cracked one)

Well, I for sure had massive temp problems during incubation! I still have chicks hatching and pipping and its day 24!!

So far I have 12 babies out and about 6 more pips I think. Its kind of hard to see. I just had two hatch that have the yokes only partially absorbed. Dang it!! I had one yesterday that was REALLY slow to hatch and then once it got out it bled really bad. The poor little guy is slowly getting up and around. This has to be the most stressful hatch I have ever had!! The incubator is sooo crowded, and the babies are just running over each other. I really want to take out the shells to make more room in the incubator, but I am to afraid of loosing humidity. Any advice?

Stressful!!

Dang, so sorry about losing those chicks!! Since they started hatching on day 18 maybe your temps were to high?

Good luck on the rest of them!!

As of 10am this morning I have 3 no more pips from what I can tell so far. This is my very first time setting eggs. It's a homemade incubator with no thermostat nor fan. Im pretty sure that the first one would have lived if I had not moved it. So far I have had a 50% survival rate I've had 6 hatch and only 3 live. Friday makes day 21. I had 2 on day 19 and one on day 20, Have 5 left. The next batch should do a lot better than this batch because I will hook up both a fan and a thermostat for the next ones. so far so good with the 3 I have 2 are over 24 hours old and the #3 is a little over 12 hours old.

I'VE STILL GOT SOME CHICKS! It is the night of the 23 day and I got really worried. I candled them and it looks like 5/8 are alive! 4 of which look like they are pushing at the membrane. My mom was saying that maybe the problem is the humidity. Any Ideas on how to get it higher?

Any news? We're in the same position and I'm wondering if the movement we saw was pushing at the membrane or nearing the "giving up" point of trying to hatch. I think our humidity has been good, so I don't really want to increase it.

Still nothing, I am very doubtful that I will get any chicks from this batch. Either this Saturday or Sunday, I am going to put in some eggs that I got from one of my ducks. I think I will have to wait on buying some more eggs because I have already tried 3 batches, spent $87, and have gotten no chicks.... Plus, I think I may have better luck with eggs that weren't shipped. I guess I'll see.

Have you candled them since the pushing you saw? I'm going to candle again tonight and see if there's any change.
