Anyone Setting eggs on 4/10/12??? Want to hatch with me?

There's no ballpark figure on how long it takes. Some take a few minutes, some a whole day. I notice they get faster after there's a chick in the brooder "cheering them on".

hennyandpenny, you can leave the chicks in there.

I opened the bator and took out 19 babies. Looks like I got mostly pearl white leghorns with 6 americana. Started out with 21 of each. Letting the rest of them set for today while I'm gone. If no more hatched today then it will be time to clean out the bator and put a new batch in tomorrow nght. I have managed to find 18 guinea eggs so far.

Grats on the little balls of fluff created these past few days everyone. Sounds like some pretty good hatches so far!

I think I'm gonna take my brooder outside where my chicks from the hatchery can have some sunlight today... with them out of the basement where I live, I should be able to hear some chirps coming from the incubator to indicate whether or not my 2 eggs are still alive. Starting day 22 and still no cracks or anything, but we'll see if we can hear them or not today.

I'VE STILL GOT SOME CHICKS! It is the night of the 23 day and I got really worried. I candled them and it looks like 5/8 are alive! 4 of which look like they are pushing at the membrane. My mom was saying that maybe the problem is the humidity. Any Ideas on how to get it higher?

I put tons more water in there. Just in the last 10-15 minutes, the humidity has gotten from 41-51. I will have to watch it really close and make sure that it does not get above 80%.

Wow, awesome! Not sure of a good way to get humidity higher other than add water. Hopefully someone with some experience can help. Tonight is the night 22 for me, and so far nothing. Maybe I should candle and check mine as well...

Maybe I will get lucky.

Well, I added water about half an hour ago and the humidity is up to 64%. Yeah, I'm glad that they are still alive. I tried to hatch some before this and the thermometer was wrong so they got way too hot. I'm just glad that's not the case this time!

Let us know what you see! (If you do candle them)

Well, I just went ahead and candled them. I didn't see any movement I'm afraid. :( I think I see some veins, but without any movement of any kind I more or less admit defeat for now. I'm going to leave them in the bator for a while, just in case. My brother-in-law hatches hundreds of chicks a year and he'll be here this Saturday. When he is here I'll have him walk me through an egg-topsy and figure out what I did wrong.
