Anyone setting eggs on or near today (May 17th)?

Are we all newbies? I am checking temperatures about every 30 mins when I'm home and obsessing about it when I'm not.. this is going to make me crazy! I have a digital therm/hygrometer and a regular therm, both read different temps.. which one do I believe?

I'm new to the incubator, so I can't help with your question. I would like to know the answers if anyone can help!! Oh, and I set 3 dozen eggs last night at 10:30, and temperature has been holding steady at 99.5! I have a hovabator 1602n with a turner.

Hey all, I set 15 cochin bantam eggs on the 16th, and just added 33 delaware eggs today to a new genesis 1588. I also have some bantam cochin eggs in lockdown right now.
Which thermometer to believe? Maybe none of them. I have a kitchen thermometer with a stem that I checked using boiling water, and compare my others to it to see how far off they are. And they are all off a little. You can check your hygrometer using the salt method,

I'd love to join! I set 34 Lavender Orpington eggs today. I'm super excited. I've wanted them forever but only recently talked hubby into letting me spend that much for eggs. I bought some of them here from BYC and some from Ebay...I figure that different sources will give me better odds for getting some babies. This isn't my first hatch but it is the first in quite awhile. I'm so excited!

I have a digital and a regular thermometer that read different temperatures too. I think I am happier going off the glass one and will see what day my chicks decide to hatch then suppose I will know if they hatch on day 21. I am using a Brinsea Eco 10 . I would love to have a seperate bator for lockdown as there ins't a lot of room in there for my 9 babies if they all hatch but funds won't allow it at the moment

I have been wondering if anybody can answer my question? If you put eggs in the bator at say 9pm in the evening, is that then classed as day 1 or is that day 0 and the following day is day 1? I have been lying awake in bed thinking of this because it would make a big difference to when I stop turning the eggs and for lockdown. Can anybody help me please?

P.S. My little one and only chick that hatched from my first 6 eggs died last night

I guess none of them were meant to hatch as she never thrived. It's very sad and it's put me off a little from doing any more. Maybe if I have success with the ones in the bator now it will give me a bit of confidence.

Happy hatching everydody xx

Hello all. I set 34 Polish eggs on the 18th (18 Gold Laced & 16 assorted). My first time trying to hatch. I am using a Hova Bator Genesis with egg turner. So far so good. Hope I get some babies! Keep checking the temp and it has stayed steady so far.

I placed a dozen buff-laced Brahma eggs Wednesday, so I'm in!

I would say if you started your eggs at 9:00 p.m., then at 9:00 p.m. the next evening that would be day #1.

Sending good hatching vibes to us all!

End of day 3 for me.. I am still checking that window about 4 times a day! its like watching for a pot of water to boil, you know its not ready but you just have to check anyway!

We seem to have gotten a good sized group. Good luck and Happy Hatching everyone!

I would go with the digital. It's been advised to add the two and take the average. But this is why I don't use two. They never match and it's to much stress.

Hope all goes well
