Anyone setting eggs on or near today (May 17th)?

On my way to bed (as day 20 of incubation is just beginning) I peeked in the 'bator and saw my first pip!!!!!

Congrats everyone! I hope everyone has some good results. I'm very happy with mine. I had 16 d'uccles in the bator (shipped eggs). At Day 7, I had 6 clear. I remove those which left me 10. Well 9 out of those 10 hatched

They are so cute! I can't wait to watch them as they grow cuz I'm pretty clueless on their colors. I should have three colors (mille fleur, black mottled, & porcelin).

this is SO EGGSITING! 12 babies so far and 23 more eggs to go, few pipped already.
As they are drying and fluffing I am able to tell which roo is responsible for each baby. My Big BR is father to most but some have the puffy cheeks to let me know the EE is doing his job too.
Congrats everyone!

Meet Fowler

I have another egg that has pipped but Fowler is busy trashing through it every few seconds so I think it may be a bit dizzy by now, I hope it still hatches. My other egg doesn't appear to have any sign of a pip so maybe won't hatch. Really hope Fowler isn't going to be an only child

Adorable, and love Fowler's name!

I just shut my incubator off today and gave up on egg #10.. I'm very happy with my 9 that hatched. That's more than I expected

Starting to think I was waaayy overzealous with putting 40 eggs in there.. So far 16 hatched couple more pips and lots of eggs still to go.
But its not day 21 for me until 5pm today! These babies are super cute
Love Fowler!
My 11 yr old son was watching and updating me at work yesterday and named our first pip UNO

I was thinking Domino since most are black with a white head dot (BR dad)
but the watching continues...
anyone else still watching?
and my oh my is that bator getting Dirty!! Had no Idea they would create that much fluff and dust fresh out of the shell!

Eggs hatched. 8/11 and the broody hatched 2/3. She has another but I think it's a dud. I took the first two cuz she's with a roo. Poor thing but I've no where to put him or her.

My roos are just fine with my baby chicks. I have 4 roos in the coop, but I had 10 roos in there in February and 3 chicks, and they all did just fine. Someone said that the hens are more of a threat to the babies than the roos? Or no?

It depends on the breed of hen but, yes, sometimes the hens can be more of a threat I guess. Some are just better mothers than others!

Well, I am on day 22. 1 hatched, 2 drowned in eggs and one pipping now. I hope things are just running behind. The humidity is tremendous right now and I am sure that is working against me.

Well no new pips for me in 24 hours, and last 2 werent strong enough to make it out of the shell, 2 half way zipped and found one that pipped and died.
guess I should take out the rest.. 17 healthy babies out of 39 eggs, not so good.
but for a first try guess its ok.
Maybe my eggs were too old?
