Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

Ahhhhh! Such cute babies! I'm lovin it! Lovin the damp silkies!

Roxannemc, keep us updated on that pip.
Which should be easy, as you'll be up all night ;)

Oh why, Oh why did you mention ebay?!?! I don't think i can resist the temptation to buy some eggs.... I think I'm going chicken crazy

You must wait. If you pip for it, and break a blood vessel, the chick will almost certainly die. When are they due? I give them 2 days past due date. Keep humidity up, keep lid down, and just keep peeking in the window. Hatch day is very stressfull for the hatchee, and it must work at its own pace. I'm an experienced "full service hatch" lady, and I am always very reluctant to assist.

Have you candled to see if there is an internal pip yet?
Hi Marty,
you seem quite knowledgeable. I have been waiting for something to happen with my eggs and I finally see two pips, it is late in day 21. One pip is on wrong end of egg. this egg was hard to tell proper end both seemed almost the same but when candled went with positioning where saw air sac. Unfortunately it seems chick had different idea. Dont know what to do. Only my second hatch and I really would like to make sure chick hatches if possible. Do you have experience with this. What do I do? Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am absolutely over the moon excited for this next hatch!
Yippee! Winning an eBay auction is always fun but when you win eggs that's even funner! Ha!! Congrats!
Here are 4 of the 5 that hatched on day 16/17 for me. I can't get my camera focused on my first chick with wryneck. She is too wiggly. Just had another hatch in the bator and 2 more have pipped and are chirping!!!

Congrats on the babies!!

Got 3 that pipped at 12 noon....waitin on them...& the rest hopefully over the next few days!!
Congratulations!!
Question for everyone. I set 15 eggs pretty much knowing that 3 were duds but giving them a chance just in case. When I candled at day 14 the 3 I thought were duds were tossed leaving me with 12 good eggs. Would I count my hatch rate percentage by the 15 I set or the 12 I knew were good?
I have been wondering that myself. I say if they weren't fertile to begin with then it's no fault of yours so count the 12 as your base number.
Oh yeah... I forgot to say... I could not BELIEVE when I got home and the thread said 115 new post! You guys are straight chatting it up! I love this hatchalong! This has been GREAT!

Yummy, want to share you receipe?
. Of course. It is actually from the back of the bread flour bag:D. I find that the recipes that come with the flour, chocolate chips, etc., are quite good. I'll type it up in the next several days. My eggs go into lock down tomorrow night so typing up the recipe will keep me distracted for a little while.

By the way, what is everyone using to keep their new chicks warm? Does anyone have an Eco Glow 20? Is it a lot better than the old-fashioned light bulb or heat lamp?

I use old fashioined light bulbs. When its hot, I use a 25 watt only, or nothing when it gets over 95 (our chicks are broodered in a special place w/o extra heat, and not a/c either. LOL). In winter, I use a 60ish watt bulb. Never tried the more expensive stuff.

I just had to say congrats to everyone with new chicks. And to everyone that goes to all the trouble trying to hatch.I have been watching this thread since July 19 when I set 30 eggs.I really haven't had a chance to post. I candled them on day 14 and removed 7.The rest look great.I use a forced air hovabator and usually do dry hatches.I will spray them toward the end.I usually have good hatches with my barnyard eggs. Not so good with shipped.I am starting to get the urge to sit by and watch mine. Its about that time.I'm so glad to know I'm not alone sitting and looking at eggs for hours willing them to do something, anything.I can hardly wait to see what pops out this time.I love seeing pictures so I hope to see lots more soon. Thanks for letting me share.
