what kind of bator is that... i saw something like it on ebay.. how many eggs does it hold and how was your temps and humidity... inquiring mind wants to know
yep its from ebay holds 9 eggs the temps does go up and down between about 38 - 40 and they humidity was ok not a bad bator but i do think there is better out there but it done the job hope that help :)

What's the difference between setting the eggs upright in carton and laying them flat during lockdown? Does it make a difference? I want to do everything humanly possible to have a great hatch with this next batch!

I have not tried the carton yet... but heard a lot of people like it. It all depends on what your situation will allow and what you're trying to achieve. You could always split the difference and cut your egg cartons way down and lay the eggs horizontal in them. Making sure that the air cell end was facing out, at a slight angle up, just like when you're incubating them. It makes sense to have them in as natural a position as possible --like a hen would have them in the nest. The hen doesn't all of a sudden drastically change the position of the eggs. But again, I have not tried hatching upright in a carton-- so I'm just chatting here.
It's all a learning experience. You are gonna have to try it both ways and see what works best for you.

Question; Summer keeps tucking larger pieces of shell back under herself. Will she really sit there and try to hatch shells with the babies running around? Granted there is still one hatching but...

BTW; how is hatching going Silkiemelon?
