Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

Marty think i will raise my humidity to 75 if you do it all this time and it works.

Have to add 20 eggs tomorrow to lockdown bator and my one clutch is on lockedown now Tomorrow .day 20
.Any suggestions on adding the rest of these eggs into the locked down bator?
Just have 2 incubators and some others in the 45 humidity one still so have to do this for these other lockdown ones How to get them all in and not loose so much humidity in there whille i do it ?
A damp rag over the eggs in there? A pot of hot water in there with me and the 2 bators..Would work maybe but the space is small as itts my closet with my clothes in it too I have about 1 ft x 2 ft to stand and do things with the incubators Dont know where i could put the pot of steaming water without stepping in it.Suggestions anyone?

I think chicken addiction is contagious,, My DH is now researching building a bator out of a cooler. says my LG doesnt have a fan and has design flaws, gonna let him build away...

Just pop them in quick, and redampen your sponges if need be. It'll be ok. I've been known to lightly mist eggs right after I put newbies in lockdown too. It helps rehumidify quckly. I keep one hatch bator, and two incubators, so I'm always doing the dance of readjustment. LOL IF your super worried, just plug in a humidifyer close by, and wait an hour before doing your eggs.

Later, if during hatch you've gotta mess with baby eggs (which I very strongly caution against), you'll have to keep a humidifyer in the bathroom. Then, when your in a full service hatch (usually waterfowl) you can work away wihtought killing everyone with shrink wrap. Its a monster, and they just can't break through the membraine. Be on top of this, and keep that humidity above 75%, thats very very very important during lockdown.

thumper4369, tell DH he can use a computer fan (google insturctions) to make your LG a fan bator. ITs a very good idea! It helps a lot. So does gluing a clear cut round disc to your thromostat controller. ITs just too little for fine adjustment. I cut a round disc out of clear plastic, and hot melted it too the controller. Now I can see how far, and make micro adjustments (whcih is awesome). It also helps to keep two sponges on opposite side of the bator. Every day check them, and when its dry, get it a bit wet.

If you don't have a hydromenter, google how to use your spare thermometer and some cotten to make something that'll tell you your humidity.

Keep me posted!  I have a headache...gonna go to sleep since staring at the bator   :caf    is getting me nowhere.  Hopefully I will wake up to SOMETHING - a chirp, a pip, a chick - hopefully something.  Will let you know.
To keep myself from opening the bator three times a day, I baked bread from scratch today. I tried a new recipe - herbed French bread. The onion and garlic loaves came out great. I guess incubating eggs is helping me become a better baker. :p

OOOH that sounds yummy.
Well - its almost 7am and NOTHING! Getting nervous. Maybe I will clean the house, a chore I so very much hate but I have 5 German Shepherds and they are shedding quite a bit right now.
Will keep ya posted.

I'm officially in lockdown! I candled last night and things aren't looking so good though, if anything hatches out of this batch I'd be surprised.

I think I should have known better. The lady said the eggs "could be" up to 5 days old....but they were 12 for $20 including shipping, so I caved. On top of all of the strange fluctuations in temperature, and the fact that my incubator is a styrofoam death trap [as far as humidity and fluctuations go] I haven't been keeping as close of an eye on this batch as I did the last.

I saw 2 completely blacked out eggs [an EE and a FC] my Mille Fleur d'Uccle eggs (3 of which I saw chicks in) seem to have stopped growing, there is only a small mass of dark and I didn't see any movement.

I have a feeling that I'm going to be beyond disappointed with this hatch :/

Sprinkling ya with *€* Chickie Dust*€* hope u have a sweet surprise & they All Hatch!!!
