Love when guys get involved in a project and build things for you!! Lucky girl!!!I think chicken addiction is contagious,, My DH is now researching building a bator out of a cooler. says my LG doesnt have a fan and has design flaws, gonna let him build away...![]()
Marty think i will raise my humidity to 75 if you do it all this time and it works.
Have to add 20 eggs tomorrow to lockdown bator and my one clutch is on lockedown now Tomorrow .day 20
.Any suggestions on adding the rest of these eggs into the locked down bator?
Just have 2 incubators and some others in the 45 humidity one still so have to do this for these other lockdown ones How to get them all in and not loose so much humidity in there whille i do it ?
A damp rag over the eggs in there? A pot of hot water in there with me and the 2 bators..Would work maybe but the space is small as itts my closet with my clothes in it too I have about 1 ft x 2 ft to stand and do things with the incubators Dont know where i could put the pot of steaming water without stepping in it.Suggestions anyone?
To keep myself from opening the bator three times a day, I baked bread from scratch today. I tried a new recipe - herbed French bread. The onion and garlic loaves came out great. I guess incubating eggs is helping me become a better baker.Keep me posted! I have a headache...gonna go to sleep since staring at the batoris getting me nowhere. Hopefully I will wake up to SOMETHING - a chirp, a pip, a chick - hopefully something. Will let you know.
OOOH that sounds yummy. To keep myself from opening the bator three times a day, I baked bread from scratch today. I tried a new recipe - herbed French bread. The onion and garlic loaves came out great. I guess incubating eggs is helping me become a better baker.![]()
I'm officially in lockdown! I candled last night and things aren't looking so good though, if anything hatches out of this batch I'd be surprised.
I think I should have known better. The lady said the eggs "could be" up to 5 days old....but they were 12 for $20 including shipping, so I caved. On top of all of the strange fluctuations in temperature, and the fact that my incubator is a styrofoam death trap [as far as humidity and fluctuations go] I haven't been keeping as close of an eye on this batch as I did the last.
I saw 2 completely blacked out eggs [an EE and a FC] my Mille Fleur d'Uccle eggs (3 of which I saw chicks in) seem to have stopped growing, there is only a small mass of dark and I didn't see any movement.
I have a feeling that I'm going to be beyond disappointed with this hatch :/
