Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

So, who went out and bought a led flashlight today? The little ones with the plastic ring around the light are amazing! Its fun for me to candle at days 7, 14, and 18 (tossing all blanks and fails, if they blow up on you, it'll probobly kill the whole bator full of eggs.) I like to draw lines with a pencil weekely to mark how the air is decreasing. IT also tells me if the wee eggie is still alive.
I went out and bought four of them on day 3...LOL. Glad I did because 3 of the 9 bulbs blew out in the first one I used. I found them at the Dollar store and the remaining three work great. I figured for a buck apiece I couldn't go wrong.I didn't want to invest in an expensive one because they always seem to disappear around my house.

Marty you have been a wealth of information. Thanks for all the fantastic tips and facts. I have written them all down in my "chicken" notebook to be able to use in the future.

I've got one egg piped at day 21:D

Same with me.Locked down all 3 clutches nowThink i could have a few but more than that i will be shocked
..Candled last night .Have some awefully small eggs that i couldnt see a thing in..totally black Day 17 for them how can they grow or breath?
.Also had a few didnt look as far as they should be .Guess im foolish to put a few iffys in bigger chance something might blow up.its pretty packed in there
too .
put a jar with wet cotton balls only have a real sponge and dont think they stay too wetWell have a sponge i use for wallpapering hate to put some unclean thing in.Just cleaned and microwaved the wallpaper sponge but dont think i need it.

Marty i put a hot steaming pan of water in closet asi transferred and tried to just crack bator open.Well at least the humidity is 76 now.

Also one eggs is really mottled Not sure if its the shell or rot peeping thru the shell.Didnt put it in lockdown though.Worried.Not sure what to do.

Hope I did not hurt the eggs. Its day 21 and nothing so I candled to see if there was still movement. I removed each egg one at a time quickly and my humidity did not drop below 65% at any given time. No pip or cracks yet so thought I would be sort of safe. Anyway...there was still movement in all the little I could see. Only one looked like it was near air cell. I am confused and now wishing I had not looked.
Being only my second hatch I am impatient but it sounds as though those that hatch often get just as impatient but they probably dont do stupid stuff like I just did!!
UGH....hope my three little eggs hatch.

YOu know all, i bought this Genesis....HATED to spend the money...SPENDTHRIFT for just CHICKENS !!!... but iLOVE this thing Boy it holds the temps so so well and the humidity pretty good too. Bettetha nthe Hova.
.My Hovabator dont know why but it varies both so much.Unfortumately the lockdown are in the hovabator.
It also doesnt have the full window so cant see whats what as easily. Wish i had them all locked down in a Genesis but the other eggs gotta be in there.

Think for Xmas i might splurge and get myself another Genesis. Why do i say that ? Wont i have enough chickens by then? (HATCH addict)
if i can come up with the money Dont have a DH anymore so gotta buy my own fun stuff !!HAHA

Marty maybe you can answer this....is it more important to keep temps stable during the 18 days than the last 3?
I ask because they are growing the first 18 days and just turning and pipping the last 3.
Also i would think the opposite is true for humidity more important the last 3 days.
Well i am just blabbering on ... to kill time until tomorrow my first hatch coming..(.Oh PLEASE BE COMING!!!!Dont be dead!)
