Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

Sending positive vibes your way silkiemelon! I had one Silkie hatch yesterday evening(day20) but the other three are just out of my view. We can cross our fingers together!
Yes!!

And congrats on all your little chicks you keep getting! Your hatching rate is much better than mine!

Ok, here she is!

That little dark thing is her. Hard to take pics!

Ok, I guess she isn't that cute right now, but she will be when she fluffies up! :)

All of my hatching for this round is done. Got 4 little babies out of it. Unfortunately, my little Mille fleur d'Uccle didn't hatch. Such a shame, but I'm grateful for another learning experience.

Hopefully my English Orp hatch goes better.

I've cleaned the incubator, and I'm in the process of calibrating my hydrometer so it's spot on for this next hatch.

It's funny, this hatch of chicks made much less mess than the silkies [that hatch took me a couple hours to clean up after!] Also, these chicks aren't making any noise. The silkies were chirping 24 hours a day, and these ones....well, lets just say I keep running in there in fear that they've all dies [they haven't so much as peeped at me!]

I also started painting my 3rd coop.

I bought a big yellow one from an amish family and then 2 more little ones, that are ugly and brown, so I bought some spray paint and I've been working on making them a pretty red and white =) Although now when I blow my noise, it's red spray paint colored! LMAO.

I'm sooo ready for my next set of eggs to get here!

Well my 3 staggered hatches are finished. Out of 47 eggs I got 8 chicks. 1 Lavender Americuana, 1 Buff or white bantam cochin, 3 BBS cochins, and 3 Blue Marans. Not bad for my first time hatching. Alot of the eggs was from my own flock most of them were not fertile. It was a learning experience. I learned alot and thanks to all my BYC friends for the great advice. I just put my next batch in today. Will keep you posted on what happens with this hatch. I got 30 RIR eggs from my dad. He normally hatches them but he closed his incubator down until spring.

I've got 11 eggs waiting to pip on Thursday.
And this morning when I checked them, I had one with a star crack already!
Yippee!!

I was so worried because this last batch had really small (like the size of day 7) air cells on day 16,
and now we are on day 19 and I candled, and they are MUCH improved!!
SO Happy!!
I thought I was going to have a pile of drowned chicks.

But everyone is active and happy and I think it might actually be time to add a wet sponge after trying desperately to dry everyone out over the last 3 days.

Wish me luck on this next batch!

Guess what? I'm a mom!!

Went to check on the eggs at 6:00 this morning because I just couldn't stand it anymore, and there was a chick!!
She really must have been working hard, I went to bed with barely a pip last night, and now she's out!

I'll have to post pics later of my little paint silkie cutie :)

The other 2 are still inactive

the big Q to help or not to help.....................hmmm any advise
30 hours seems a lot. I think if he seems werker i would gentle take a tiny piece of the shell off not the membrane though Tiny piece at a time around it like he would zip it untril he can break thru the membrane himself but go slow slow. not al ot at once. That is what ihave seen on Utube.maybe want to look there. first.? OR maybe you know all this already???Dont mean to be a know it all.... I am NOt for sure!!

Congratulations to the two of you. This definitely has been a learning experience. I am getting 12+ RIR eggs at the end of the week. See you in the next thread...
