Quote:

May coincide with my ducklings which are due on 26th April...(they are day 6 today I think)

they were set in the morning 3/16 and then I put more in that night I was going to move them into my hatcher today but they were making noise so I'm leaving them where they are I just can't see much..darn well I figured out how to get my humidity up just not the temp until it was too late maybe next time. I have another batch going that I set on good friday...more eggs on the way for the incubator that's hatchin right now.....this is an addiction

only one out of thirteen survived the hatch

we inherited the hatch and have worked out that the girl that set the incubator up mucked it up right from the start, eggs upside down in the auto turner, turned the incubator off at day 16, therefore lockdown started on that day when we found the eggs cooling and refired up the bator

a bit of a waste of good quality eggs.

next time we'll control the hatch...

Well, my hatch is done! Out of 89 eggs (finally counted) I got 40 healthy chicks, 4 that have died, and 2 are not doing well. They were the last to hatch, I think they were too weak to make it out of their eggs. One is small and kind of strange looking; I think it may have deformed hips. But they are isolated, they will either make it or not. In the meantime, I am happy with my 40 (give or take a couple) healthy chicks! Strangely enough, though the parent flock is about as mixed as you can get without a blender, almost every single one is black. *shrug* A few white, some with feathered legs, 2 Turkens, and 1 glorious little baby Ameraucana/Wyandotte cross (that one I knew what it was, from a different breeder) that I think will be laced! There is one black one that I'm already thinking is a rooster. He is loud, he is a jerk, he is huge. The computer is working long enough for me to post pictures, it seems, so here goes ...

A big group picture, which was HARD to take. I swear, they have room. But they do like to jumble up into a big bunch when I try to take pictures.

The buff Turken, who has named herself Olivia. Even though she is NOT staying, she is for sale, I swear, really and truly. Not my pet. Nope. *looks the other way*

Aaaaand my please-tell-me-it's-laced Ameraucana/Wyandotte!

. Not sure where these that just hatched will go to they'll be almost 4 weeks by the time the silkies hatch.

Love the pictures everyone....... OK oK I'm going down stairs now with my camera

Kybra: sorry about the losses. Glad one made it out alive. Have you found it a friend from somewhere? Poor thing.

Julie: Wow...lots of chicks! No idea if the ameraucana/wyandotte will be laced but sure is cute. I love how ameraucanas have those fluffed cheeks. I have a right bully chick too that I think is a boy, and its really big too.

Clothdiaperingmom: happy to hatch along with my duck eggs though they may be a day ahead...and you Raimnel since you've more going in this week.

My last two that I helped out I'm not 100% sure will make it. Both have like lumps of fluidy bit at the navel - looks clearer than yolk, I dunno. I'm hoping they'll absorb it today.

They are still in the incubator or now as I think they'll be bullied if I move them to the brooder.

How can I be sure they're all eating and drinking? I dipped all their beaks when I put them in and have seen the older ones eating and drinking but the newer ones just sleep - ?
