Anyone successfully put a fat hen on a diet?

I checked on them this evening. They have the feed inside the coop because it's been raining. The barred rock was asleep with her head in the feed container. Hah. I'll have to modify the rainy day routine with this girl! Hey, at least she's got her priorities figured out.

Update: she wasn't ever fat :(

I didn't try to keep her on a "diet" as she seemed plenty active, she just loved food as well! She had a big belly that could have been fluid but felt too firm. Could have been a stuck egg but didn't have a defined egg shape.

It was an ovarian tumor that had grown to almost a third of her total body size.

Little Amelia had to be put to rest when she started showing symptoms from her organs being displaced by the tumor. She was a happy camper right up until the end.

I'll always remember her falling asleep in the food bowl. It was her trademark as a chick and she stuck to her guns as a hen! Only 2.25 years young. May she rest in the great food bowl above!
