Ok I have never tried to hatch emu eggs before...I will set tomorrow.....Will probably bug the heck out of everyone. Gosh what big beautiful eggs they are....I was kind of shocked when I saw them....I thought goose eggs were big....

They should lose 12 to 15% of their staring weight by lockdown. Here is a link for a study done in Poland. If you scroll down you can see the chart for weight loss:

This site has lots of good information. It is a little hard to navigate but they cover most of the subjects related to raising emus. I learned a lot from this site.

I STILL HAVE NO EGGS WAH!!!
I sure hope she lays soon last year she was from jan 1st till may.
I really dont agree with the "lockdown" part of emu incubation . I opened the incubater 3 to 7 times a day tapping and peeping at them. I hatched all that were fertile and had no dead in shell chicks. I of course did not attempt to help any chick out of it shell but talked them thru it. 22 out of 27 attempted . my worst hatch rate was trying to hatch the eggs I was leaving for Neptune to hatch out. one of them burst under him spoiling all but 5 of 8. out of them 3 hatched the others were rotten early quitters.
I wish all of you hatcher luck and hope to join in soon.

Aw, sorry Chickenzoo. Such a long time to develop for that. Wow. Do you have more in the incubator or under your boy? I hope so.

I just weighed mine and they are all in the normal range for weight loss. They range from 6.4 to 6.9% and the range is 7.5% =/- 1.2% at the halfway point.
