Hey everyone... no I don't have Emus.. but I am thinking about getting a few hatching eggs...
for The Sheriff:
I was looking at your blog.. I see you are using a Brinsea for the hatching.. did you remove the black tray (I know the eco 20 comes with a tray.. not sure if the advance does or not).. also saw what looks to be paper towels on top of the eggs?
I would appreciate some more info on how you have the bator set up since I have 2 of the Brinsea 20's and in all honesty I didn't know three emu eggs would fit in there!
I also have 3 emu eggs in a Brinsea Eco 20....I have the black bottom tray removed...but that's it..no papertowel or anything. I could fit 4 Emu eggs in it if I had to. I am not using the autoturn cradle, but opening the bator up 3 times a day and rotating each egg 180 degrees. So far so good.

sounds good..
I have the 2 eco 20's which I might use.. or my reptipro (at least one or the other can be used as a backup in case one dies)
I had gotten a reptipro 5000 for christmas but it had problems when it got here.. so they sent me a new one and I'm waiting for Fedex to come pick up the dead one.. the new one should be here tomorrow.. hopefully fedex is kinder to it than they were to the last one
Amazingly enough my husband hasn't vetoed the emu idea yet!

Yes the tray is out. That is not paper towel but the sponge that absorbs the water from the auto-humidity pump so it doesn't drip on the eggs. I am moving the egg to a sort of homemade hatcher when the time comes because the Brinsea is too small for hatching. Good luck!
Today is Day 44 for my last remaining egg. I have been tapping it and talking to it and it responds. Our other babies loved it when my husband whistled a tune similar to the one they whistled. As big birds they still go crazy when he does it. So I had him do the whistle for the egg and it responded! I am getting so excited. I think this may be an early hatcher since it is a small egg and very active already. Fingers crossed for a girl. I will DNA test the shell membrane.
