Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Pics
Mrs. Sheriff I just received my scale in the mail yesterday. I weighed the eggs last night but they were already in the incubator for 4 days. Is that going to be a problem? Here's what I got:
Egg #1 - 640 grams
Egg #2 - Thrown away was oozing and replacement is on the way
Egg #3 - 641 grams
Egg #4 - 699 grams

Ok I think I am doing something wrong here? How much weight are the eggs suppose to lose? Here are the readings I just got right now:
Egg #1 - 628 grams
Egg #2 - Hasn't come yet

Egg #3 - 632 grams
Egg #4 - 690 grams

Now I did check the Sheriff's blog and she has the following weights:
Start Current Loss Percentage
Day 42 of 51 = 532.97 grams 456.14 grams 76.83 grams 14.4%
Day 49 of ? = 532.97 grams 464.93 grams 68.04 grams 12.8%
Does this mean they start to gain weight as well as lose it?

From what I've gleaned off this site, they should lose 7-10 grams a week....but losing weight doesn't necessarily mean the egg is developing a chick. I had 2 lose 15 grams and 1 lose 5 grams the first week. I wonder if that means dead chick, bad egg, infertile????

My Eggs:
1. 01/04 - 575
01/12 - 560 -15

2. 01/04 - 580
01/12 - 570 -10

3. 01/08 - 555
01/16 - 540 -15

4. 01/08 - 530
01/16 - 525 -5

5. 01/08 - 560
01/16 - 550 -10

Update on our hatch-a-long here on LongMoss Farm. We got 6 purdy eggs in the new hatcher. A steady temp of 97.5 with 30% - 35% humidity. I feel like a TURNING machine. We got 5 more eggs on da-way, making our genetic diversity gathered from 4 corners of the USA a success. We even got some from the middle

. I ordered and recieved the collection kits from Avian BioTech so we can get our chic's DNA sexed after hatch. We are really looking forward to the little butt-scooters when they hatch! They are so cute when they are learning how to balance. The kids at the local elementary school kidergarten class were in awe of the Emu baby visit we paid them. They got to learn interesting facts about Emus, color cool Emu pictures, and even touch a real Emu. Maybe we can do it again this year.

I weighed my first three this morning..

C-1 day 1 weighed 660 grams
day 7 weight: 642 (18 grams lost or 2.73%)

C-4 day 1 weighed 636 grams
day 7 weight 625 (11 grams lost or 1.73%)

C day 1 weighed 681 grams
day 7 weight 667 (14 grams lost or 2.06%)

the target % loss per week (if my math is correct) is 1.875%

for mine I believe it's the placement in the incubator.. I'll have a better idea tomorrow when i weigh the next 3

if my issue is placement in the bator (relationship of the location of the egg to the fan) then I may have to either rotate the eggs a bit or move them around every few days so they each take turns by the fan.

if the next three eggs are also high then I may have to increase my humidity a bit to make up for it.

Ok, if everyone is getting the same type of readings then I am not doing it wrong then LMAO!

The replacement egg for egg #2 was held at the post office since Saturday. My question is should it still sit for another 36 hours or is it ok to place in the bator? My PO said the box was placed on the Supervisor's desk since Sat and was not moved until I picked it up today.

when i get mine I let them sit at room temp for 12 to 24 hours depending on how cold they are.. so I'm not sure how warm his office was.. but at least that can give you an idea

I think I'm ending up with 13 from 4 different breeders (may get a few more.. just haven't decided if I need to or not)..
I couldn't get any from the 4 corners like you did.. but supposedly none of mine are related!.. at least the breeders have all told me that the eggs are coming from unrelated pairs.

are you using the shell membrane for the DNA testing?
