That's awesome that you saw the head and beak. I haven't ever been able to see much aside from veining, developement. Maybe tonight I will take my time and really look. I'm usually in too much of a hurry to get the egg back in.
The real reason I set mine early was so that you all will have some pictures of baby chickies to look at while you sit on your hands during your own hatch........what can I say, i'm a giver

I have 2 Polish eggs in the incubator going into lockdown on Friday

after a 0 out of 20 silkie egg hatch earlier in the month I am not very confident in my bator ability.
i had my WCB polish hens laying eggs like crazy so i thought i would give them a try.... on the same day i put them in the bator my silkie hen started sittin
since my bator is borrowed i kept 2 and gave the hen 3 of the eggs i figgured she would do a better job than me in getting the little fuzzy butts to hatch... but i probably will not incubate again and i want to see some hatch

Very exciting!!!
I have my brooder set up, just moved the month old babies to a 'step up brooder',
I'm as redneck as the best of you! My brooder was my dog's brooder box, made of that melamine board stuff, so we cut it in half (she is a Golden Retriever so it was big), and flipped the top on the bottom, put wire on teh one side,... door on the other, adn voila! brooder! LOL!!!
it works... hehe'
and the step up???
a big wire dog crate... but the big babies are so messy! they tear up the paper on the floor, and shred it and toss it out onto my floor! YUKKO!
oh well, it's only for a few more weeks... :)
can't wait for teeny ones again! total Addict here! already thinking... 'when can I get some Barnevelder eggs???"

It's amazing what can become a brooder right? I'll be curb scouting (driving) and shout "look a brooder!!" and my wife says, "honey, that's a dresser" I now have three brooders of different sizes and paid exactly $7.00 (for hinges). A little imagination, and almost anything can be a brooder.
