Anyone use Crystals?

OH!!! How do you like?
How did you know that it wasnt a piece of forged green bottled glass I keep hearing people are scaming with?

What have you come to find??

I could tell because I have seen it in person. The auction had several photos from different angles. And when i received it and held it, it vibrates and you can feel the energy from it. I havent heard about green glass being sold as Moldavite, but I dont buy too many crystals online. I love working with stones! I sell a few special ones in my ebay store under somethingwiccan.

I have a very large clear quartz crystal from the shop beside the Museum of Natural Sciences in Washington (where the most beautiful "rocks" in the world are, including the Hope Diamond!!) and it is a "healing" crystal...it actually vibrates in your hand, I've had it 15 years or so and the kids would sleep with it in their bed when they were little and sick. We always believed it aligned your molecules better, sort of made you "in sync" again. May be placebo but we have always believed it. I have studied chakras and worn bracelets with corresponding stones and have some amethyst (peacefulness) and clear quartz (healing) and moonstone (travelers/find your way stone) and moss agate (healing and for me good luck) and hematite (circulation), too superstitious to wear opal (although not a crystal it is supposed to be bad luck if not your birthstone, lol!)...yes, I think crystals are incredibly intresting and beautiful and alot of nive jewelry is made from them too. You'll find tons of info online about them, good luck.

Very cool to hear yalls experiences.
Im always afraid to buy anything because I think its fake.

Like the shops up in Helen, Ga that say GEMS and have buckets of HUGE chunks of red rocks green rocks etc

I know those are probly to just catch the eye but how do I know if its the real stuff?

first thing is, does it say what stone it is in these buckets? If it doesnt say what kind of stone it is, and if i couldnt tell myself, i wouldnt purchase it. But, if it calls to you, buy it and then do some research on it. Soapstone comes in big chunks and in different colors, so maybe thats what it is?

To be honest, I have never seen a " fake " stone, but I have seen stones that are one thing, but labeled another. for instance, I have seen labradorite labeled as rainbow moonstone. If you buy a good book with a lot of color photos of stones, buy from a reputable dealer, you shouldnt get " taken ". A good book to purchase is the book of stones by by Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsian. you can find it on amazon.com.

hope this helps!

I use a lot of gemstones in my jewelry, and some of the custom work I do is combining them for metaphysical and meditation uses. So they absolutely have to be what they're purported to be, and not screwed with. I mean, not "stabilized" or blasted with radiation.

You might want to look at the American Gem Trade Association website. Their members have to abide by an ethics standard and disclose enhancements (dyed, bleached, irradiated, etc) made to gemstones. Fire Mountain Gems is one of my favorite places, but they have a limited amount of whole crystals. If you're not interested in beads, you may be able to find a business near you so you can actually handle the stones, or another online dealer. A lot of the members go to trade shows, too.

Hope this helps!

I'm JUST starting to get into crystals. I sell my pottery on ETSY.com so I like to support fellow etsy sellers. My first crystal purchase was a chakra kit from https://www.etsy.com/shop/AutumnStarMoon and I was very happy with the 7 I got at the price I paid. I never even THOUGHT to check to see if there were fellow crystal users on my 'chicken board' as I call it! =) very cool surprise! =)
