Thanks for the reminder!
I'll go out and take some when I collect eggs this afternoon.

From your posts, you've come off as a hardcore breeder to me. I'm looking to get into d'Uccles, what do you do with extra birds? Sell? It's not like you can cull and eat them, too tiny.
Not nearly as hardcore and all out as I’d like to be unfortunately due to space. Very dedicated though. Id sell at shows any surplus, at the very least they’d make good pets, but The color I work on is extremely rare so right now I’m just trying to get my numbers up and work from there. So no surplus yet. If you talk to older extremely serious bantam breeders they’ll often tell you that they will just cull them and sometimes not even eat them. I knew a bantam New Hampshire breeder that was friends with a guy that owned a massive pet snake which got fed the birds that weren’t up to snuff. Unfortunately I can’t quite justify bringing a massive number of birds into the world just to kill the majority them because they don’t meet my beauty standards, you know ? There’s got to be a middle ground there somewhere. But to each their own.

What color are you working on?

You and I feel similar. If I were to cull, they'd probably become dog food for the Great Pyrs. I'm hoping to avoid that by selling on CL and FB. I'm not going to be a huge breeder, definitely won't be hatching hundreds of chicks. Maybe two batches one in the early spring and one in the later. I've only got 4 pullets and two cockerels right now, and I think only two of the pullets are laying... so... gonna be a while before I get eggs in the bator for the d'Uccles.

I own a couple Mille fleurs and porcelain d’Uccles But I’m working on blues. (The hen in my avatar) I bought a pair from the President of the d’Uccle club and I’m positively hooked, they are the sassiest little loudmouths you’ll ever see. What color do you plan on working on? :)
(I apologize if you’ve already mentioned it this thread moves so fast sometimes I miss posts)

Mille Fleurs.
They've got their faults, the mottling has more white than I would like, thankfully I have a cockerel that has little to no white in his mottling, so then maybe I could off-set that. My second cockerel is beautiful.
Combs need work, too many points and then pullets' are floppy. I've got one hen with some weird twisted feathers for her primaries...
Man, I need to go out and get pictures.

That's amazing that you're working on blues!!! I've heard that they are hard to breed, them being almost black looking and all.
