Thanks Cluck! This is my first ever hatch, as we just got our chickens over the summer. I have a pair of Japanese Bantams that I plan to hatch as soon as they are older- both white tailed black. Good luck with your hatch as well! I am anxiously awaiting mine, I think I have candled practically everyday! HAHA

Sorry, I didn't see this yesterday! Right now, I only have a 55 gallon aquarium with 6 blue African cichlids and a 10 gallon with a gourami and two loaches. I have a dream to have a wall of 10 gallons with different kinds of fish in them. My African cichlid tank was a dream tank I've wanted for years and I finally got that up and going last November. I love them because they are full of personality and the sound of the water trickling down is peaceful/comforting. I am a nerd, I suppose!

And if you're like me and a lot of others, yes, the syndrome is contagious via the internet!

And here is a picture of my very ghetto DIY aquarium 'bator. All items used to create this were on hand, minus the the thermometer. I was able to find another piece of odd sized styrofoam to put on the other end of the the tank. Whenever I'm not looking at it, I have all four sides covered with styrofoam, exccept the front I leave a little open because it gets pretty hot in there with it closed all the way. And usually, I don't have a blanket on the top, but at this point, I was trying to raise the heat in the tank since I swapped tanks after the first one fell on the floor (which is surprisingly not broken from the fall).

Aacre, our family loves fish also. We have some pet fish also, but I only see them when we catch them out of our pond. (bluegill). My daughter would love to have an aquarium, but between lack of space and time....

I completely understand how that goes! I'm surprised I was able to find room in my tiny house for what I've got set up now. I wouldn't trade my tiny house for anything else though!

I hope they make it. I've candled mine twice, but I don't know what I"m looking for, so I'll just flip them a few times a day and wait it out.

I've read somewhere that you can use clear nail polish to seal cracked eggs. Its supposed to help keep the germs out.

Alot of people seem to use candle wax too.

Wouldn't there be a concern of chemicals of nail polish or candle wax getting in the egg and affecting the chick?
