Tossed 1 lav/blue Salmon Faverolles egg this am. They were put in on the 15th and this one was still too clear inside for any growyh. Cracked it open and nothing had started growing. These were ordered eggs. 5 MORE DAYS...seems like an eternity!!! My third set I know there will be bad ones as they came from my only laying bantam...d'Uccles. They are outside and the weather has been freezing. There were 7 in the nest total but 1 was tossed after the 1st candling. I know 1 should be ok..as it was still warm from being laid. My hen is not the least broody yet!

Have been looking at Brinsea brooder heaters and this time I want to make sure that it won't short out, or catch on fire.
I got one 50 chick one on Ebay and when I went to pay for it the price came up almost 2x at what is was listed. I have started the process in the resolution center. The amout was no where listed in the as being different for the two different sizes. auction.. I am not paying

The general rule is that eggs will hatch around the time of day you fist put them in. So if you put them in at say 7:00pm then they will hatch on the 21st day at night.

I candled today for the last time before Lockdown on Sunday ( I work 16 hour shifts on Sat and Sun so won't have time to candle with the minimal time for sleep) Out of 9 eggs still in, I have 7 that are on target...2 of them have been questionable for a few days, but they don't smell so I don't think they are at risk of exploding. They both look like quitters or early death....oddly enough, I haven't seen a blood ring yet.. Here's to hoping that on Wednesday evening I have a couple little hatchlings....I should have a few hatch Wed, Thurs and Fri as I placed in eggs over 3 days. I have been collecting since Tuesday for the next hatch!

I believe my broody is ahead of me in days, she has been on lockdown the last 2 days. She was getting off few minutes a day to potty and eat. I'm glad I candled when I did on her last break. Out of the 7 sitting, 1 clear, 1 didn't seem right with airsac but the others looked alright. Good luck everyone hope for lots of fuzzy butts!!

I am going out of town unexpectedly. Left instructions for the family to turn today & tomorrow & then fill both cups with water & leave things alone. Sounds easy. Hatch day is supposed to be Thursday, the day after I get back. Boy I hope I don't miss it!
