Anyone want to hatch with me? - Went in 01/16/14.

What day are you on? I candled on day 16 and all my air cells seemed to be smaller that what I had seen on here that they should be, but so far 3/7 are out without difficulty! This is my first hatch so this has been my only experience

We are on day 16. It is our first time too. Just made a cooler bator from stuff in the garage. That makes me feel better. That's

Got it!

Hey I have a question to anyone out there, I set my 3 lo for lockdown on 2/1 and one hatched on day 22 beauty other two I didn't bother until I checked one last night wiggling all over so put back. I added my 8 silkies last night for lockdown. I heard chirping and thought here comes my lo's finally. I woke up this morning and nothing, listened and can hear pecking so waited and waited, this afternoon I said heck with it got my warm wet towels and tweezers and flashlight headed to bathroom, first nothing opened and poor guy was upside down and head stuck under yolk sac. Second opened small hole and there is baby but some blood so put pressure stopped bleeding back in bator cranked up humidity to 73%+ while putting back I notice silkie pipped and chirping.....what the heck is going on. Lav orps are at day 23 going on 24 and silkies are at day 19. Anyone have any ideas?

Considering everyone seems to be hatching late, my bet is that your bater temp is a bit low. Other than that, the one chick is mal-positioned, which just happenes sometimes, As long as he can breathe, I'd leave him in there for a while longer. when his yolk is absorbed he might be able to get out on his own.

Does anyone know if my broody hen will hatch out this last egg, or if she'd most likely abandon it in the morning if I put the chicks under her?

Everyone's chicks are so cute!

If I don't get anything from my incubator this time, I have a back up. My Sizzle decided to go broody today! I'm wait and give her eggs until the day after tomorrow just to make sure she's serious. Yay!

You guys, it is so exciting! Before bed I had one chick out & 2 pipped. Woke up to 3 more out & another pipped. Chick #5 came this afternoon.

2 more to go!

Anybody have any experience in hatching with the eggs still in the egg carton? I have seen people hatch that way, however; it seems that my lil chick is having a hard time getting out.......Any suggestions? Not being able to open the top to the incubator is torture!

I opened my Bator last hatch to assist a chick mid hatch with no problems but I did open / close and delt with the chick on a towel with a heat lamp over it everything was fine

I had the same situation Sepaditty!

I went to bed with one out and one pipping. I woke up to check our woodstove at 3am and number 2 had made no more progress....by 7am it was out and I noticed the number 3 had started to pip...By 3pm number 3 was out.....No more pips yet....Have 2 that are scheduled for tomorrow as day 21 and 2 more that should be tonight! I guess time will tell!

Good Luck...I put in 15 and narrowed it down to 7 that were definitely good and 2 possibilities....I am not expecting the 2 possibles to hatch but

the other 4 will so I have all 7 hatch!

I have the coolerbator set up and put 24 in it this morning! So my next ones are on their way! Again barnyard mixes
