Anyone want to hatch with me? - Went in 01/16/14.

WOW, @Xovan your dp bird is so cool! Do you have any more pictures of her??
Are you hatching any eggs from that bird? ( Sorry if you and you have already told me, it's hard to keep up with everyone and what they are hatching ).

Picked up my 12 Maran eggs. They turned out to be all different Marans with a Dark copper Rooster over them. Not sure if that is considered pure breed. They all looked nice and some of the eggs appeared very dark. I am no way an expert. They also gave us two eggs that were laying in the silkie pen. There was also a small hen in that pen that had feathers that looked like she was electrocuted. No idea what breed it was. So it could be the eggs where from that little chicken too. I hope to hatch these for my twin girls as pets. They also had 2 Jubilee hens and a rooster. Beautiful birds. There were also some Lavender Ameraucana. I might need to come back when some are laying eggs but I am not sure of the cost of those.

These 14 eggs will be the last we are adding to the incubator. We have only 12 slots left but tomorrow we will candle and add these. I hope I do not have to throw out perfectly good eggs to get my two silkie eggs in. So far the incubator is almost 3/4 full of barn yard eggs, some from my friend and some from our own chickens.

Well, I guess my question about days until hatching for bantamized LF vs true bantam breeds is answered. My true bantam breeds have always hatched at 19 days. Yesterday was 19 days for my bantam blue salmon Faverolles eggs and no pips yet. Guess they will hatch at 21 days like LF.

on a horrible note...

...we had a fire in our garage last night and I lost all of my older chicks...bantam Cochins. Looking for some eggs to hopefully replace them with as bantam Cochins were going to be my 2nd breed of bantams.

But, it could have been worse. Much, much worse. Thank goodness you're alright! If I had Cochins, I'd send you some eggs
