Anyone want to hatch with me? - Went in 01/16/14.

My second hatch was set to hatch yesterday, but I am not sure what happened! I set 24 on Feb 12 at 11pm. On day 18, I locked down 15 and as of yesterday there are 6 hatched. I expected a little later hatch since I had low temps the first 24 hours or so, but on day 18 everyone seemed caught up. I guess I will give it a day or 2 more and see what happens...If no more hatch....on to the next batch!

What kind of eggs are you hatching? Mine went in the 7th and day 21 tomorrow, nobody is doing anything yet which drives me crazy, I'm hoping they do okay and oh so anxiously awaiting a sign:pop

I only ended up with 2 chicks from my last hatch (out of 20 eggs!). There were 3, but one sadly didn't make it. I think I've come to the conclusion that I need to wait until Spring to run my incubator, when the wood stove isn't running. I think I may have had some temp spikes, our weather has been wonky, 70F one day 30F or lower the next.

Anyway, the 2 chicks that did hatch are adorable. 1 Silkie and 1 Sizzle, I think. And, on a much better note, my broody's eggs should be hatched by now. I could hear peeping yesterday when I fed and watered. I'm about to go thaw out the water and see if I can see any peepers

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you didn't have a very good hatch rate. :( I originally started out with 20 eggs, and then locked down with 15. They all made it to full term, but only 6 of them hatched and are surviving well. The others I guess drowned or suffocated in the shell. :( NEXT TIME!! I heat the house with wood as well, so I completely understand what you mean about the temperature changes. I keep mine in the bathroom with a space heater because it tends to run colder in there but it's the best room that doesn't have the major traffic and drafts.

Thanks, it happens sometimes. Sorry about your babies too, it always makes me feel terrible when they get that far and don't make it. Thats pretty much what I do, the incubator is in my laundry room. Even though I feel like I'm constantly running the washer and dryer, the temperature stays pretty steady in there. Unless it's 70 degrees out. And the wood stove is running.

So I went out and checked on my broody, every single one of her eggs hatched (6)! And the chicks are beautiful! Shes sitting on them pretty tight at the moment, which is good because its chilly today, but once she gets them moving around I'll snap a few pics and share

I am looking for silkie eggs to hatch for Easter if any suggestions please let me know! I was scared to order online from just any website because It's my first egg order & I am clueless who to use. They will be new little members of the family & I didn't want to make the wrong choice!! So now I have everything I need...but my eggs :(

I have been sitting here all day waiting for any of the chick's to hatch, no action just pips and peeps so I went outside to take care of big chickens gone maybe 20 minutes come back and 3 hatched what are they shy??

Little turds! I have 2 gold laced Brahmas and 2 buff/partridge Brahma so far and they are the noisiest little chicks I have ever seen or heard, and no I have not seen any come out yet. I have seen others but it never gets old and I love to watch.
