What a cute idea! I haven't crocheted anything in a while but I've seen some really cute amigurumi (stuffed crochet critters) patterns of chickens and chicks.
Do you have a pattern for that coaster? I have a daughter who would adore that!

Oh how neat! I love the cushion! 
Thank you soooo much. I'm a visual learner so this will suit me even though I'm a reasonable crocheter. And my daughter will be thrilled to bits!

It's really clear and easy to follow and there all simple stitches. Doesn't take long to make either which is always good
