Well I did have to sit and stare for a while, but the Frizzle eggs are definately rocking. Yours might be taking a nap, I really should go to sleep might be a long night tomorrow (but am so excited).
Another of mine looks like it is cracked, and the one that was pipped looks like it might be bigger, but it's hard to say. I think the new-ness has worn off for me some. I don't stand and watch the hatcher like I did when I first started. I don't candle as much as I used to either. I am considering stopping for the season, but I still have some eggs in the bator. I would hate to just toss them after starting them, but I don't really think I want to hatch them. They are mixed bantams, and most people don't want bantams, let alone mixed breeds.
I understand, I have 1 more batch of eggs coming then I am done til spring. Do you know anyone near you that might want to take the eggs and try to finish hatching them? I am hoping I can make enough room for all the babies, am trying to work on a new coop, but right now the little ones are in my spare room as they grow they get moved to my sunroom, then into the shed. It is hard to try and find places to keep them warm. Next year I think sept. will be my hatch cut off date.
Edited cause I can't spell tonight.
These eggs have been incubated anywhere from 2-8 days. I would be afraid of letting someone else hatch them. The only people I know that do hatch near me have stopped for the season. Next spring I will be a hatching fool with all the breeds that I am getting, it's just kind of boring when you more or less know what you're going to get. My only roo for the longest time was a blue splash, so all the chicks were either blue or splash! Boring! Plus with the cooler weather, it seems that they aren't as strong. I had 16 eggs to start this time. I tossed 2 a few days ago, and out of the 12 that went to the hatcher, there seem to be at least 4 more that have died since I candled last. It is disheartening to say the least. I had no trouble with hatching this summer, but now it just seems like a waste of time and money.
Yes I was going to bed, but I got in the shower and got sidetracked. well if its only been 2-8 days and you are not sure you want them I would just pull the plug on them and call it done for the year. I still have no pip's but still see rocking so mine probably will wait til tomorrow night or wed., then i have another batch due the 24th, then a set due the 3rd, and set coming in the mail. lots of babies but they are all different and shipped eggs so probably won't get that many to hatch. Last batch i got 18 eggs and 9 were smashed so will candle tomorrow but not likely they are doing anything.
ok really should go to bed or stop typing cause I can't spell tonight at all
Yeah, think I'm gonna call it a night (or morning haha). I need to get up in about 4 hours, so I'm really pushing it! I will think about pulling the plug, but I really hate to. I don't need them, but I hate to kill them either. I have some chicks on the porch in a covered box atm anyway, so it's not like they won't have a place to go. I'm not sure how to acclimate those chicks to the cold, so they will probably be there a while. Poor things. Maybe I need to start a thread for that?
I woke up to 2 new babies! The other eggs aren't doing a thing, no pipping or rocking, nothing. These two babies are just like all the rest. Look like blues
I know a lot of people like blues, and don't get me wrong, I do too, but it gets boring to have blue chicks all the time!
