Anyone with me?

There has been a few... But surprisingly there isnt anything up the top in the stickies. Maybe doing a search for topics might be best.

quail kid~ I am so happy for you!!! All 6?! That is fantastic! More pics please! Do you just need some general feed info? It comes up a lot, so a search should give you a pretty good idea, like duckyfromoz said. I don't know what all is available where you are, or what meds might be in medicated chick starter over there, so I would say non-medicated chickstarter would be fine and you could add some Brewers yeast for extra Niacin. BTW you've restored some of my faith in shipped eggs! Though I won't be doing anymore hatching for quite awhile. I am hoping to hatch chicks or ducks for other people though, now that I bought this big incubator and everything. Would be sad to see it sitting ideal til next spring.

Annarie`, we need pics of your new little one! He/she sounds really cute!

Josh~ have no idea when a momma and babies can go back in with the main group. Have you tried a search yet? I know I've seen/read posts about it, but can't remember what they said.

Alrighty, here they are - Pebbles (the yellow Runner) and Puddles (the Call) - I think that Puddles might actually be a Blue Magpie, instead of a Blue Mallard Pied...or, she could even be a Blue Bibbed with too much white. I think I might start a new thread and get opinions!

Well, now that more are hatching out in my King Suro 20, I’m starting to get confused between which are Muscovy/ Khaki Campbell, I’m proud of the hatch so far, considering it was my first time hatching ducks, plus quails together, plus using eggs that were not 100% guaranteed fertile to hatch duck eggs, plus the fact that Muscovy’s are supposedly hard to hatch:

Since Saturday 9 pm was lock down: 32 day Muscovy, 26 KC, 14 Quails

Out of about 14 Quail eggs put in with this hatch, 10 have hatched out so far.

I’m very excited that I have 1 white Muscovy.

There are about 11 duck eggs still in the King Suro left, and would make today day 37 Muscovy, and Day 30 for KC…some eggs are cracked, and still waiting…so hatch is still going good. Just need to wait a couple more days, hopefully more hatch?

That first pipc is so cute..I ahcthed out quail in between my duck eggs- I thought they would be too small to brood together... That little one on his back- legs in the air in the first pic is gorgeous.

awww lol! So cute! Well today it is quite warm in London so I decided the ducklings have a little bath ( just water ) and they dived and splashed lol, and then I dried them off and back to the brooder

Wow, some seriously cute ducklings on this thread! quail kid, I just love giving ducklings their first bath! It is so much fun. Those are some very pretty babies you hatched out there!

Josh~ If you haven't already, you could do a search for "when can ducklings go in with the big ducks" with an astrik at the end, if that doesn't pull up anything try switching the wording just a bit.

Annarie~ Puddles is just too cute! They look quite happy together! I've just started studying all the color stuff. Mental work out to be sure. Do you know of any good books on the subject?

cqnguyen~ Okay, not fair, those quail are so adorable, especially that one who is rolled over on its back! Keep us posted on your other hatchlings, I really love the Muscovies and the light ones are very pretty. We have one that is almost all white with some blue and blue eyes, she is just lovely. And Kahkis, love them to. They were my first ducks and regaurdless of what people say about them being skittish, I think they are great and a totaly joy.

Yes, there is one very good one - Colour Breeding in Domestic Ducks by Chris & Mike Ashton. You can only get it from their website (ashtonwaterfowl.net) OR from the UK amazon website (amazon.co.uk). It's great though - great explanations and pictures.

The Duck Color Calculator is fun to play with too - not 100% accurate, as it can't take recessive genes into consideration if your duck isn't genetically a "pure color", but I still play with it for hours seeing what could happen if I bred my different ducks together: http://kippenjungle.nl/kruisingEend.html
