Just need to vent and would like to spread the word about how "good" AOL is. My Mother has passed on but I still get email from her. I for a while could not find a way to get in touch with America on line to tell them that her account was hacked. I finally, after a few phone calls got in. The first on to cancel her account sent me to an online so no go. I finally got "Tech support" and with a series of questions got in and WOW SHE TOLD ME THE ACCOUNT WAS HACKED! The best part is they wanted to charge me $99 to take the hacker out of Russia out of her account and to close it. I asked for her supervisor and after thirty seconds on hold I got a busy signal.
Please pass on the word how great a company AOL is!

PS: If you would like to post this on any site please do. Thanks for reading this

I began using AOL when it first began...which was quite a while ago. I know it is hard to believe but they have actually gotten worse with every year until I can honestly say that it is the worst site of its kind on all of the Internet. The only reason I continue to use it is because I have had the aol email address for so long that I do not want to change it. I might add that it is quite common for aol mail accounts to be hacked and you can expect no help from aol, as you have discovered for yourself.

Why is the account even open?

Stop paying the bill, and there will BE no account to be hacked

AOL can be free now. Unless you want to pay for their "tech support" and a few minutes of dial up time per month (like if you are at some ones home with out internet aka grandma)

That is exactly the problem! The account is free but the support is not. I will call again to try to explain this problem and try to get someone who will not try to charge me $99 for help in India.

In february aol decided to start calling me about having one account for my phone calls and my broadband. The only trouble is they always called me when I was asleep after a night shift. After a month I thought yes I will have one account for my phone calls and internet and moved it all over to british telecom!

Then block the E Mail, and don't use the account

Calling won't change much since you've already tried that

well it is over. My sister got the same email and she was the hardest hit by Moms death so when she learned what was doing she just paid to get it over and done.
