Apartment Chickens

It varies from sometimes county to county within a state...I had 2 Macaws and a cockatoo in my apartment for 8 years during college.

I imagine with a chicken diaper they would be fine. I have 6 18 week olds that are in the house in a hot tub frame and hotside during the day. They sit on the futon and watch TV with us. LOL We just have an old towel down in case of an accident.

I would have a chicken if I was apartment dwelling...why not?

sorry I am hijacking the htread for a moment....

Gail a couple of questions....

How often does her diaper need changing?

Is it washable or does it have a plastic liner?

What about her laying...wearing a diaper would make it hard would it not?

I am considering this diaper thing for two of my spoiled rotten girls...

I had a house chicken. She died this spring, when she was barely a year old. She had a scissor beak and needed to be tube fed. She wore a diaper, which I changed when it got too full maybe two or three times a day. She never grew to proper size and did not lay eggs nor was she very loud. She was one of the best pets I ever had.
If she had grown big enough and layed eggs, the egg would simply have ended up in the diaper.
She would find me at around eight o'clock pm and hop on my shoulder and let me know that it was bedtime. She would sit on one of us and watch TV with us running her own commentary. She went in the front yard and helped me weed. She would come when we called her or jump/fly onto our shoulder when something frightened her.
She would get under foot (or hop/fly on your shoulder) when you were cooking and we learned to lock her into a bedroom at those times. She often went on outings with us, even to stores.
We miss the pitter patter of her little feet, when she came to greet us.

I bet you do miss her. She sounds like she was a great companion.
